Approval of Minutes from Council Meeting held on May 5, 2016
- A motion was made to accept the minutes as submitted. The motion was seconded and carried unanimously.

- Krista Peters is no longer with UMB. Her replacement—Terry Bremer from Hopkins will start in November.

- A new professional development award is being offered to attend workshops, conferences, etc.

Committee Reports
Long Range Planning and New Programs
- Master of Professional Studies: Technical Management Track – Tom Moore
The new program proposed by the College of Engineering and Information Technology is targeted at technical professionals who are new to leadership positions, and who want to learn how to effectively lead technical teams without the need for additional graduate education in a technical discipline.
- The committee recommends approval of this proposal.
- PBC STEM Education Leadership – Susan Blunk and Tracey Irish
UMBC proposes to create a new PBC within the Master of Arts in Education to meet the need for STEM leadership in pre K-grade 6. The new certificate is designed to allow teachers to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to become STEM leaders within their schools.
- The committee recommends approval of this proposal.
- PBC in Integrated Product Development and Manufacturing – Neil Rothman and Allison Jones
The UMBC Mechanical Engineering Department in partnership with the Division of Professional Studies proposes a PBC program to provide practicing engineers with technical expertise in key aspects of product realization, with a focus on product development while considering organizational, logistical and technical requirements of current manufacturing processes and methods
- The committee recommends approval of this proposal.
A motion was made to accept the committee’s recommendations for the above-mentioned proposals. The motion was properly seconded and carried unanimously.
Program Review
- Systems Engineering
- The Program Review Committee found that the Dean’s Response Letter and the post-APR report were responsive to the External Reviewer’s recommendations and positively responded and agreed to make changes proposed by the External Reviewer. However, there was no response to the external review’s comment on the program’s structure not being conducive to research.
The committee recommends approval with the expectation that a response to the comment will be received in writing. A motion was made to accept the committee’s recommendation. The motion was properly seconded and carried unanimously.
