About the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT)

The role of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) is to advance the interests of Australia and Australians internationally. This involves strengthening Australia’s security, enhancing Australia’s prosperity, delivering an effective and high quality overseas aid program and helping Australian travellers and Australians overseas.

The department provides foreign, trade and development policy advice to the Australian Government and Consular and Passport services to Australians.

About the Position

Under direction, this position provides a range of consular and passport services. The role also assists with office administrative tasks.

The key responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

·  Provide a range of consular services advising and assisting Australian citizens

·  Provide a range of passport services, including conducting client interviews to Australian citizens in accordance with the Australian Passports Act

·  Provide timely advice and reporting on consular and passport cases, including the drafting of correspondence

·  Provide a range of notarial acts and services

·  Maintain consular and passport statistics

·  Review consular travel advice quarterly or more frequently if necessary

·  Act as sub-cashier for passport and consular collections and manage stocks of accountable documents

·  Assist with the coordination of travel and accommodation bookings, official visas, movement requisitions and check payments of travel costs to providers

·  Assist with the calculation and preparation of travel advances and acquittals

·  Provide support to the accounting and administration team including assistance with the preparation of payment documentation, credit card reconciliations and processing of HR records as required

Qualifications/Experience

·  High-level ability to liaise, negotiate and consult with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including local authorities and service providers

·  Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deliver a high level of customer service to clients from all backgrounds

·  Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and to respond to challenges

·  Excellent written and oral communication skills in both Turkish and English

·  Strong computer skills, particularly with Windows-based products

·  Demonstrated ability to prioritise workloads, meet deadlines and achieve productivity benchmarks
