2015Call forShared Use and Collaborative Research

The Atomic Bomb Disease Institute, Nagasaki University.Building on this new momentum, we are seeking shared use and/or collaborative research projects, as described below. We hope that you will inform your researchers about this opportunity.

1. Study subjects sought

(A) Priority subjects

(1)Social medicine study (including radiation health risk assessment study, the former Soviet Union field study, and reconstruction assistance study for Kawauchi Village, Fukushima)

(2)Nuclear radiation life science study(including genome repair and genome informatics)

(3)A-bomb survivor and/or hibakusha healthcare study

(B) Other study subjects

2. Qualifications

Regular staff members at universities or research institutes, graduate school students, or personnel who have equivalent qualifications.

If the project includes radiation operations, the personnel must have been registered at the organization as a radiation operator duly in accordance with laws and regulations.If the project includes gene recombination experiments, the personnel must have been registered at the organization as a gene recombination experiment conductor. If the project relates to clinical study, epidemiology study, human genome study, or human stemcell research, the organization must have finished the ethical review.

3. Research duration:

From April 1, 2015 to March 31, 2016

4. Deliverables:

(1)Shared Use/Collaborative ResearchApplication Form(Form 1)

(2)Letter of Acceptance from the organization’s head(Form 2)

Before submitting the documents, an applicant must contact the coordinator of the application process at Nagasaki University for discussion.

5. Deadline:

February27, 2015 (the documents must arrive by this day)

(Applicants may submit via our application coordinator.)

7. Adoption

Our governing committee decides adoptions and informs the applicant no later than March 31, 2015.

8. Expenses needed

We bear the expenses,including travel and consumables,which successful applicants will incur for Study Subjects (A) and (B).

9. Report

At the end of the study duration, the lead researcher must submit a Report of Development.

10. Notes

If applicants do genomic, isotope and animal experiments in NagasakiUniversity, they need to submit the application according to theregulation of Nagasaki University. For further information, pleasecontact with administrative office of Nagasaki University.
