PTA Meeting Minutes for May 9, 2016

Call to order: Meeting was called to order at 7:01pm

Review and approval of April 2016 minutes – minutes approved as distributed

Treasurer’s Report – checkbook balance over $25k, received checks for Box Tops, Coke Rewards and Hersheypark Volunteers, still waiting for Panera fundraiser money. Approved 30 shells for Chromebooks. No budget adjustments.

Committee Reports

Assemblies: Lisa R, Chair. Brain Show went well.

Box Top for Education: Jean K, Chair. Jean ready to pass off box tops to new chair Natalie.

Dance/Socials: Keri H and Shannon S, Co-Chairs. Dance was well attended. Still mostly attended by 6th graders.

Eighth Grade Fun Day Gifts: Allison C, Chair. Drawstring bags were purchased for students

Eighth Grade Send Off Party: Beth M, Tina H and Connie I, Co-Chairs.Obstacle course inflatables, Rita’s ice, popcorn, movies and games will be part of the fun activities. Special lunch of grilled hotdogs and hamburgers will be available for the students. HS Principal will address class in morning. Volunteer sign-up sheet going out this week.

Fundraiser – Coke Rewards: Lisa R, Chair. Just received first check for $45 – have more to enter.

Fundraiser – Gertrude Hawk: Jackie W, Chair. No report.

Fundraiser – Hersheypark Tickets: $127.10 profit. Also received 2 HP tickets that will be given out as a raffle to the 8th graders who raise money for the fundraiser as part of the 8th grade fun day.

Fundraiser – Race for Education: Michelle S, Chair. No report.

Fundraiser – Restaurants & Events: Michele S, Chair. Noodles & Co fundraiser on 5/12 from 3-8pm.

Hersheypark Volunteers: Dena C, Chair. Continually looking for volunteers.

Hospitality: Tammy B, Chair. No report

Membership/Volunteer: No report.

PAC: Jean K. and Beth M., Co-Chairs. Last PAC meeting was briefly discussed – CDEHS teacher presented projects from her classroom as it relates to RRR initiative.

Ram’s Make a Difference: Lynn K and Maria W, Co-Chairs. No report.

Reflections: Bill M & Claudia M, Co-Chairs. Thank you notes sent to judges. Still waiting on regional and states regarding an award ceremony.

Scholarship: Kathy C, Chair. Big Thank You to Mr. Collins for helping organize how to judge. Evaluation process went smoothly. Three students will receive awards – the winner and there was a tie for 2nd place.

Sign Changer: Jackie W, Chair. No report.

Spirit Wear: Jackie W, Chair. No report.

Teacher/Staff Appreciation: Chrissie K, Chair. Teachers greatly appreciated everything they received during the week. Some volunteers didn’t come through with what they had promised to bring, so had to purchase more than expected. Teachers LOVED the Edible Arrangements bouquets she provided.

Principal’s Report: Awards ceremony 6/8 at 8am; talent show 6/9 at 8am; Algebra Keystone exams 5/24 and 5/25; building evacuation drill 5/18 at 8:30 planned – going to church across the street

Old Business – Excellence in Music Award in honor of Julie Watson for $150.

New Business – Honorary PA PTA Lifetime Memberships awarded to Mr. Matzner and Mr. Collins
