Dear Parent,

Mass was lead by the third grade today. In Fr. John’s homily he reminded us that Jesus chose 72 people to go out and teach about the Kingdom of God. He asked them to take nothing, to travel in twos (it’s always good to have the support of a friend) and go from town to town to share the Good News. If the people wouldn’t listen they should brush the dust off their sandals and move on. He reminded that we should be sharing the Jesus we know with others. Just as drinking water is second nature to us, sharing our faith can also become second nature to us. We should practice speaking to others about our beliefs until we can do it easily and often.

Our thanks to Schreiber Foods for a generous donation on behalf of, and in honor of, Diane Ederer as she retires. Diane chose this donation to go to St. Luke's Music Department.
We are also grateful for more donations inmemoryof KenAlbrecht, and would like to thank Mary Mercier, GeraldBoettcher, Elinor Riley and Ron Towle for using their school envelope to make donations to St. Luke's School.

We have had some donations to our hot lunch program…thanks to Henry Ferstl for green beans, and to Rudy and Ilene Feiner for apples.
We look forward to celebratingwith the grandparents and invited guests of our students, thisFriday, October 13.ManyTHANKSto Bob and Barb Palmerfor donating the beef will we eat on Grandparent's Day and some hamburger to enjoy on other hotlunch days!

OVER…OVER…OVER

Chaperoning: Some of you have asked about hours worked at fish fries and chaperoning field trips being used toward your ten volunteer hours. The only fish fry that countstoward the ten volunteer hours is the school fish fry which is in April. That is the only fish frywhere the proceeds are applied directly to the school budget. You may be asked to work for other fish fries if you are a member of St. Luke’s Parish as part of your stewardship for the church.

Unfortunately field trips don’t count towards volunteer hours either. We always have many chaperons, more than we need for safety. We take parents, even when they aren’t needed for supervision, to allow you to spend that time with your child. In these situations chaperoning is more of a choice for the parent than a need for volunteers. There are other volunteer spots where there is a real need and we would like to make thosea priority.

The Mass on October 15th will be anAll School Alumni Mass with Fellowshipin the church hall after Mass! Please spread the word to your classmates and other Alumni! A Google form will come home Friday.

You are invited to exercise your creativity with some Fall Centerpieces…..We were looking for something a little different than a Pumpkin, Haunted House or Scarecrow Contest. We decided since there is no Golden Alumni this year, it might be a good time to shake things up. We are asking families/students to make a Fall Centerpiece that can decoratethedinner tablesonGrandparent’s Day. There is a flyer attached with specifications. Be creative!

Have a great weekend!

Cindy
