Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector Level 3 Award

About the Course:

This course is designed to give trainee teacher an introduction in to teaching within the Lifelong Learning sector. This will give you the threshold license into teaching that will help you progress on to further training opportunities and eventually become a qualified teacher. This new 12 credit qualification replaces the previous 6 credit qualification.

What the Course will cover:

The course will cover various different units that apply within teaching sector. You will be given various teaching and learning materials to help you progress though the course. During the course you will:

  • Understand your role, attitude, responsibilities and boundaries within the teaching sector
  • Understand appropriate support and learning approaches in your specialist area
  • Demonstrate your planning skills and time keeping skills
  • Understand how to deliver appropriate learning activities which will engage learners
  • Understand the use of certain teaching materials and different assessment methods as well as the need of record keeping

How you will be Assessed:

You will have to create and produce a portfolio with evidence you have been collecting for each one of your units, such as well as various course engagement tasks which will be created by a member of our team, various questions, and voice recording to show you are competent. You will take part in class discussions and practical work and have individual written tasks to complete. There will also be course work set which will need to be completed on a monthly basis.

Entry requirements to course:

You will have to have a specialist subject which you desire to teach with a qualification at Level 3 or higher. You must have English and Maths qualifications at Grade C or higher or a Level 2 however we do offer Functional Skills qualifications that will get you up to the required standard if you do not have the relevant qualifications.
