Expressions of interest are invited from teachers interested in a career opportunity relieving in the position of Deputy Principal for 2017, commencing 24 April 2017. The position with be located at:

Granville Public School is situated in the western suburbs of Sydney. The current enrolment is 606 students from P-6 and a 5 class Support Unit, including 94% from non-English speaking backgrounds.
Our teachers have high expectations and they are passionate about providing the best possible outcomes for our students. We have a mixture of experienced and early career teachers. Our school is a community where students, teachers and parents work together to benefit all.

The school offers extensive programs and is part of the Early Action for Success initiative. In 2017 we will have two instructional leaders supporting our community. Teachers and students benefit from rich and ongoing teacher professional learning in L3, TEN, and FoR. We have a wide range of creative extracurricular activities including choir, dance, art, drama and debating.

Specific Selection Criteria

·  In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach K to 6,with demonstrated capacity to lead, support and mentor staff through change which brings about pedagogical change and improved student outcomes;

·  Demonstrated ability to lead innovative research-based quality teaching that supports improved student learning outcomes;

·  A commitment to and experience with the development of programs and processes that support student well-being and engagement; and

·  Successful experience in the engagement of a diverse community through visibility, openness, consultation and commitment.

General Selection Criteria

·  Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice;

·  Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs;

·  Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams;

·  Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents;

·  Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning; and

·  Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies

One of the referees listed must be the applicant’s current principal or supervisor for non-school-based staff. Expressions of interest must not exceed 4 A4 pages and require the signature of the applicant’s current principal or supervisor.
