Dear Parent of a Stockdale Star,
Thank you for preparing your child for the start of the school year. This letter is to communicate with you regarding a few topics that are new for this school year. Also, I will be highlighting a few “must know” topics.
New and “must know” topics for 2016-2017:
- Staffing: Stockdale has a new librarian, Mrs. Marina Contreras. Mrs. Fox now works at the District Office level. We added an additional fifth grade teacher, Mrs. Elena Carlson.
- A2A (Attention to Attendance): Families will be receiving mailed letters of notice regarding unexcused (after three) and excessive excused absences (after five). If you receive a letter, please read it and contact the school with any questions. Punctual attendance is important. Best practice is to have students arrive at school between 7:20 and 7:45.
- Stockdale will be undergoing two major construction projects this year: Solar panels/shade structures being erected on the playground and a re-roofing of the main building.
- The office staff will not be interrupting classrooms to dismiss students early, unless for a medical appointment. We have experienced a growing number of early dismissal requests. This practice is disruptive to the classroom and puts an extra strain on the staff. Documentation of an appointment, (such as dentist, doctor or court) will be required.
- The office will not be calling the classroom to inform students of forgotten items brought from home after the start of the school day. A note will be put in the teacher’s mailbox to inform a student to report to the office at recess or lunch. Please help us limit the number of interruptions to classrooms by being organized.
- Stockdale School and the PBVUSD Parent Handbooks are now online. Visit the respective web pages to view. This year only a signature page will be sent home with students to acknowledge that families have reviewed them. You will have an opportunity to request a paper copy if desired. Thank you for your help regarding going paperless with the handbooks.
I am delighted to have your child at Stockdale Elementary for the 2016-2017 school year. I look forward to working with you and doing my best to ensure that we start school on a positive and informed note.
