Blessed be the GOD and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and GOD of all
comfort, who consoles us in our every trouble, so that we may be able to encourage those in any
kind of distress, with the consolation with whichwe are divinely sustained. 2 Cor. 1:3 - 4(NBV)

Dear Friends of WIHS:
The devastating effects of Hurricane Katrina dominate the news as this short letter is being prepared. The final magnitude of the death toll, devastation, destruction and damages due to Hurricane Katrina is still to be determined, yet it is already apparent they will far exceed what has previously been experienced in the United States in the past century.
Many Christian relief agencies are rushing personnel and supplies to the stricken areas of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. They will be putting into practice what Paul has stated in his GOD-inspired second letter to the Corinthians. All Christians should be supporting this massive relief effort to minister, in Christ’s Name, to those inany kind of distress.
While physical properties and personal possessions may be lost forever, and the loss and injury of loved ones will also impact lives forever, GOD is still GOD and He is a GOD of mercy and comfort. This is the consolation that divinely sustains us when tragedy and disaster occur. This is the truth that GOD calls His people to demonstrate by word and deed to those in any kind of distress. Certainly the people affected by Hurricane Katrina need GOD’s people to bring His mercy and comfort during this time of great distress.
Connecticut is many miles from the affected areas along the Gulf Coast. It is not that difficult to view the pictures and hear the news reports regarding the destruction wrought by Katrina, yet be more concerned with rising gasoline prices than ministering to those in any kind of distress. I prayerfully hope and trust GOD will use WIHS to challenge, convict and produce committed listeners who will provide great support to those Christian agencies who are and will be ministering, with both word and deed, to those in any kind of distress. Thank you for your support toward this goal. That’s why We’re In His Service!
Cordially in Christ,
