Mehmet Ulema (Chair) called the meeting to order at 10:10AM EDT and reminded participants about IEEE Standards and the Law and to declare or update their affiliations and standards activities listed in the Roll Call.

  • Standardization opportunity in SDN/NFV. 20 members (based on invitation) participated in abrainstorming sessionsponsored by ComSoc SPDB last week. 1 SG (BYOD, Security in SDN/NFV) and 3 RGs are proposed (under discussion).

—Meeting in IEEE ICC 2014, Sydney for 3 days. Conference Call in Sep’14 and F2F in GLOBECOM 2014.

  • Access Networks WG: 1904, P1904.2

—WG was approved. PAR for P1904.2 was approved. Next meeting in Colorado – end of Jun’14. Joint workshop with BBF.

  • SIEPON WG: P1904.1-Conformance 01, 02, and 03:

—Started sponsor ballot on all 3 projects. Scheduled to close on 5th May’14.

  • P1906.1:

—Monthly meetings are held. Completed Definition and Framework. Metrics is work in progress.

  • P1907.1:

  • P1910.1:

—Scope was framed.Planning Webex monthly meetings.Mar’14 – Discussed Security related issues.

—The revision PAR of 2030.5 has been approved by SASB in March.

—Revision of the ITU-T coexistence recommendation: As reminder the ITU-T coexistence recommendation was aligned with the ISP coexistence protocol defined in the 1901 Std. ITU-T SG15 decided to unilaterally revise the ITU-T coexistence recommendation with no coordination with 1901.

—IEEE 1905.1: The 1905.1 working group approved a first working draft and a work plan in late February and shared it with ITU-T SG15. In March ITU-T SG15 withdrawn their initial draft revision of 1905.1 and started the development of a new recommendation based on the1905.1 working document. It is improving.

  1. [DECISIONS] Approval of the COM/SDB Minutes of the last meeting
  • [Motion]“Approve the COM/SDB Mar’14 minutes” - Niranth moved and Glen seconded.

[Result] APPROVED by acclamation as there were no objections.

  1. [INFORMATION] HDBaseT presentation
  • HDBaseT Alliance – Standardizing the transmission of Full, Uncompressed HD Video over CAT 5/6 Cable upto to distance of 100 mts.
  • ENERGY is partnering as this technology provided reduced power specification.
  • Spec 2.0 is completed for Home Play. Supports 10 times more resolution.
  • Interested to create a PAR for Next Generation HDBaseT standard.
  1. [INFORMATION] Biometric Open Protocol (BOP) presentation
  • BOPS is used between Smart Phone and Server. It integrates Face matcher, fingerprint, etc. Purpose is authentication.
  • [Motion]“ComSoc to be the primary sponsor for 2410” - Farooq moved and Alex seconded.

[Result] APPROVED by acclamation as there were no objections.

[ACTION] – Electronic ballot on the motion –“Approval of PAR by COM/SDB and appointment of WG chair.”to be conducted by COM/SDB.

  1. [DECISION] Approval of the Project Status Report
  • [Motion]“Approve the Project Status Report Template for use for monthly status reporting at 1st of each month by COM/SDB sponsored WGs or WGs under other ComSoc standards committees.” - Glen moved and Farooq seconded.

[Result] APPROVED by acclamation as there were no objections.

  • Postponed to next meeting.
  1. [INFORMATION] Financial report
  • Need help from IEEE SA staff to collate the financial status of WGs and other ComSoc SCs.
