Job Location: Moose Cree First Nation, Moose Factory, Ontario

Position Summary:

The Director will have responsibility for the Health Services department which includes the following units: Home Health, the Health Centre, Health and Wellness (Mental Health), and Home Support. The role is responsible for the implementation, management, administration, monitoring and evaluation of activities relating to the community’s physical, mental, and spiritual health, along with oversight of the Community Health Plan and the Long-Term Care Division. The Director will lead the Health Services team with the delivery of various health services, taking a holistic approach towards the well-being of individuals, families, and community. The Director will act as a liaison to the senior management team, Chief and Council, government agencies, and other funding agencies as well as being an advocate for the community and its members. The Director will actively participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of departmental, organizational, and community-wide strategy and goals.

Qualifications, Abilities, and Characteristics:

  1. University degree in a health field (Health administration, social work, nursing, etc.) Master’s Degree preferred.
  2. 5 years’ experience working in healthcare, traditional healing or related field.
  3. Experience in health services related management or supervisor capacity.
  4. Experience working with a first nation is an asset.
  5. Knowledge of Moose Cree land-based and traditional healing practices in addition to Moose Cree culture and cultural practices.
  6. Strong knowledge of health and safety, healthcare standards, and other relevant legislation.
  7. Knowledge of budgeting, finance, and associated computer programs.
  8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  9. Strong management and supervisory skills.
  10. Excellent problem finding and solving abilities.
  11. Ability to maintain high level of tact, discretion, and confidentiality.
  12. Strong negotiating, persuasion, and interpersonal skills.
  13. Ability to understand and/or speak Cree an asset.
  14. Valid “G” driver’s license considered an asset.

Salary:$75,000 + based on education and experienceDuration: Permanent with 6month probation
