PRIVACY COLLECTION NOTICE

1. The School collects personal information, including sensitive information about pupils and parents or guardians before and during the course of a pupil's enrolment at the School. The primary purpose of collecting this information is to enable the School to provide schooling for your son/daughter.
2. Some of the information we collect is to satisfy the School's legal obligations, particularly to enable the School to discharge its duty of care.
3. Certain laws governing or relating to the operation of schools require that certain information is collected. These include Public Health [and Child Protection]* laws.
4. Health information about pupils is sensitive information within the terms of the National Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act. We ask you to provide medical reports about pupils from time to time.
5. The School from time to time discloses personal and sensitive information to others for administrative and educational purposes. This includes to other schools, government departments, [Catholic Education Office, the Catholic Education Commission, your local diocese and the parish]* medical practitioners, and people providing services to the School, including specialist visiting teachers, [sports] coaches and volunteers.
6. If we do not obtain the information referred to above we may not be able to enrol or continue the enrolment of your son/daughter.
7. Personal information collected from pupils is regularly disclosed to their parents or guardians. On occasions information such as academic and sporting achievements, pupil activities and other news is published in School newsletters, magazines [and on our website].
8. Parents may seek access to personal information collected about them and their son/daughter by contacting the School. Pupils may also seek access to personal information about them. However, there will be occasions when access is denied. Such occasions would include where access would have an unreasonable impact on the privacy of others, where access may result in a breach of the School's duty of care to the pupil, or where pupils have provided information in confidence.
9. As you may know the School from time to time engages in fundraising activities. Information received from you may be used to make an appeal to you. [It may also be disclosed to organisations that assist in the School's fundraising activities solely for that purpose.] We will not disclose your personal information to third parties for their own marketing purposes without your consent.
10. If you provide the School with the personal information of others, such as doctors or emergency contacts, we encourage you to inform them that you are disclosing that information to the School and why, that they can access that information if they wish and that the School does not usually disclose the information to third parties.

ST LAWRENCE PRIMARY SCHOOL ETHOS
St Lawrence Primary School is a Catholic school and as such aims to develop the whole child:

You, the parents are the primary educators of your children both in the faith and in ensuring, they apply themselves to their schooling. The school is a secondary educator of your child and as such, we, the staff, are here to help you in the education of your child.

RATIONALE
St Lawrence Primary School has been established by the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Perth to further the mission of the Church. St Lawrence Primary School endeavours to fulfil the Mandate of the Bishops in so far as this is possible to make a Catholic education available to all Catholic children within the Parish of St Lawrence, Balcatta

PRINCIPLES

1.  St Lawrence Primary School exists to provide a distinctively Catholic Education for children enrolled in the School.

2.  St Lawrence Primary School recognises the uniqueness of each student.

3.  St Lawrence Primary School has a preferential option for the poor and marginalized.

4.  St Lawrence Primary School fulfils its mission in partnership with parents who are the first educators of their children.

5.  St Lawrence Primary School has a responsibility to fulfil the requirements of relevant Federal, State and Local Government laws and regulations.

6.  St Lawrence Primary School shall accept all application forms for enrolment.

7.  The acceptance of an application form does not guarantee an enrolment interview or offer of enrolment.

8.  Enrolment at St Lawrence Primary School shall be offered only where the school has age appropriate accommodation and the requisite resources to respond to any identified specific needs of the student.

9.  Enrolment at St Lawrence Primary School does not guarantee enrolment in any other Catholic school.

PROCEDURES

1.  Applications for enrolment will be considered according to the following enrolment priorities:
1.1. Catholic students from the Parish with a Parish Priest reference.

1.2. Catholic students from outside the Parish with a Parish Priest reference.

1.3. Other Catholic students.

1.4. Siblings of non-Catholic students.

1.5. Non-Catholic students from other Christian denominations.

1.6. Other Non-Catholic students.

17 Extract from the St Lawrence School Fees Collection Policy:

The Fees timeline each year will be:

a.  At the School Board AGM in November the fees will be announced to the community.

b.  The School Administrative Officer will prepare and issue a Fees and Charges Statement to each family by the end of Week Three Term One.

c.  Parents will have two options for making payment:

i To pay the Annual amount by the end of Week Seven Term One.

ii To pay a quarter of the Annual amount by the end of Week Seven Term One and
thereafter by the end of Week Four each term.

iii Other options may be considered by the Principal upon application of the parent
after financial circumstances have been reviewed.

17.1  The School Administrative Officer will send a written reminder at the commencement of each term indicating the amount due for that term.

17.2  All payments for fees and charges are made to the School Administrative Officer/Secretary.
The School Office is open every day from 8.15a.m. to 3.30 p.m.

17.3  Collection of Overdue Fees will be the Principal’s responsibility.

The Principal will:

i Maintain a list of outstanding fees/charges.
ii Principal or Administrative Officer will communicate with parents who have
fees/charges that are overdue.

17.4 The School Board reserves the right to engage outside agencies to recover outstanding fees after the October School Board meeting.

Accounts are issued at the beginning of the year and payable annually or in advance at the commencement of each term i.e. within the first four weeks of each term.

EXPLANATION OF THE FEES AND CHARGES

Amenities Fee:

The Amenities Fee provides for stationery - e.g. scrapbooks, file (upper grade), class sets of text books, art and craft materials and to offset photocopying and associated printing costs.

Building Fund Levy:

To help meet the loan commitment of the school the St Lawrence School Board has established a Building Fund Levy of $239.20 per family per year.

School Building Fund:

A School Building Fund is available for those families who may wish to make a TAX DEDUCTIBLE gift to the School. Please see the School Secretary.

Incursion/Excursion Fee:

Over the school year children attend educational excursions that require payment and visits by entertainers, coaching clinics etc.

To avoid the inconvenience and unexpected expense for families, each family is charged $45.00 per child per year. Each class teacher is provided with an annual per capita excursion budget, which covers all educational excursions (except Yr 6 camp), visits by entertainers and coaching clinics. This fee does not cover swimming lessons.

Swimming Fee:

Children in Year 1-6 attend formal swimming instruction during the year. This fee covers the cost of instruction, entry to the pool and bus hire.

CCI Insurance: This policy provides 24 hour insurance cover for Students of St Lawrence Primary School.

If you wish to place your child’s name on the St Lawrence Primary School Future Pre-Kindy, Kindy List or Wait list for other grades, you are required to complete an Application for Admission form for our records. The Application form should be sent to the school office with the application fee.

Please note that acceptance of an application for admission form does not guarantee an enrolment interview or an offer of enrolment, or a place at the school.

The Application for Admission should be sent to the school along with the following:

(i) copy of your child’s Birth Certificate

(ii) copy of your child’s Baptism Certificate.

(iii) copy of your child’s Immunization Record.

(iv) $25.00 Application fee including GST (non refundable).

A Parish Priest reference will be required 12 months prior to the date you would expect your child to start at

St Lawrence, NOT BEFORE, as the reference will need to be current at the point of commencement.

If you have any questions regarding the document, do not hesitate to contact the School Secretary.

If you are invited for an interview you will receive an enrolment form for completion. The enrolment form will need to be returned to the school prior to the interview.
