ALL AFRICA GAMES 2011

FINAL INSERT

A team of 12 sailors wins 9 medals for South Africa. Well done to all, even the 3 that did not get medals as they too sailed so well and deserve being recognised for their sportsmanship, commitment, hard work, team spirit and outstanding performance. Craig took part in everything the squad did both on and off the wateras if he were a young man once more, finishing with a credible 5th overall. Not bad for the oldest man in the fleet -Craig we are so proud of you and enjoyed having you as part of the team. Matthewwas unlucky with thenon-discardable DSQ,a heavy score of 17 to carry. Had it not been for this, he would possibly have made the medals too.Matt still finished 6th, a terrific achievement.Daniel did incredibly well to catch up from a bad first day. His dailystandings went from 14 to 11 to 9 to 6 and finallyfinishing 4th overall, proving just how hard he worked, never giving up throughout the regatta - you are a superstar Daniel, well done.

Thank you to the whole team, and especially to our two hard working and loyal coaches, Shellee Nel and Ricky Robinson - you did a great job with the team and I know they appreciated your time and commitment more than you know! Thank you to SASCOC for making this event possible for South African Sailing and to the team at SASCOC (Barry, Desiree, Leon, Chantel, Jabu, Bongi, Isaac and Madera) for all your long hours and hard work. Thanks also to our boat schleppers and helpers: Len Heard, Peter Marcia andBrett Clark, and to Peter Hunter for fixing the SAS Laser trailer the evening before we departed to Maputo.

I loved this event and am so proud of the entire team. It was indeed a privilege to be part of it,

Belinda Hayward
