A.Qualification Requirements

To qualify for assistance under the program, an applicant must first meet the following qualification requirements:

  1. Enrolled either in a masters or doctorate statistics program from a reputable university in the Philippines;
  2. Has completed the academic requirements of his/her study;
  3. Has a thesis/dissertation proposal which has passed the required thesis/ dissertation proposal defense;
  4. Topic provides solutions to emerging challenges or help in the improvement of concepts and methodologies used in the PSS
  5. Has initially started the research work on its methodology (not more than 50% of its timetable);
  6. Has used live data (census, survey or administrative data) generated by the Philippine Statistical System; and
  7. Research work is programmed to be completed within a period of one semester if working on a thesis and two semesters if dissertation.

B. Application Process

  1. Accomplished application form (See Annex);
  2. Application letter indicating live data to be used and the percent work accomplished per its timetable duly noted by his/her adviser;
  3. Endorsement letter issued by the Dean/Director of the education institution where the applicant is enrolled for his/her study;
  4. Copy of the approved thesis/dissertation proposal/outline covering introduction, review of related literature and methodology;
  5. Approval sheet signed by the Adviser and panel members and containing the comments of the panel members that will serve as guide in revising the proposal/outline and as proof for passing the thesis/dissertation proposal defense. This document usually include revision of direction of the study; and
  6. Timetable of research work programmed to be completed as per Item A.7.
