TheBoardofDirectorsistheleadershipteamfortheMinnesotaFathersFamiliesNetworkandischargedwiththeoverallgovernanceoftheorganization.ThereareseveralfundamentalexpectationsandresponsibilitiesofthoseindividualsservingasmembersoftheBoard.

EXPECTATIONSANDRESPONSIBILITIESOFBOARDMEMBERS

Eachmemberisexpectedto:

1.HaveastrongbeliefinthemissionoftheNetworkandworktowardtheaccomplishmentoftheNetwork’smission.

2.Approve,andamendasneeded,theArticlesofIncorporation,theBylawsandthefinancialpolicies.

3.ProvideleadershiptothestaffinsettingthedirectionfortheNetworkandforestablishingannualandlong-termgoals.

4.EstablishNetworkpolicygoverningtheattainmentofthemissionandtheoperationoftheorganization.

5.Approvetheannualbudgetfortheorganization.MonitorthefinancialoperationoftheNetworkandapprovethefinancialstatements.

6.Workwithstafftoensurethatthereareadequatefundsavailabletoconducttheprogramsandimplementtheactionplanforeachyear.

7.ServeonatleastonecommitteeoftheBoard.

8.AttendBoardmeetingsonaregularbasis.

9.Employandevaluatetheorganization’sExecutiveDirector.

10.Makeanannualfinancialcontribution,ofanyamount,tosupporttheprogramsoftheNetwork.

11.AdvocatefortheNetworkanditsprogramsandrepresenttheNetworkthroughoutthestate.

12.EnsurethattheNetworkcontinuestoqualifyasatax-exemptorganizationandcomplieswithallstateandfederalregulatoryrequirements.

MinnesotaFathersFamilies Networkpromotespracticesand policiesthatsupportpositive father-childrelationshipsand familyrelationshipsthrough informedpractice,publicpolicy

andsystemchange.

FINANCIALANDTIMECOMMITMENTSOFMFFNBOARDMEMBERS

ItisrecognizedthatBoardmemberscomefromdifferentsocioeconomiclevels.Withthisinmind,eachBoardmemberisexpectedtodeterminehis/hercapacitytocontributetime,talentandfinancialresourcestotheNetwork.

Boardmembersareaskedtobecomedues-payingMFFNmembers($20.00annualmembershipfee).Inaddition,eachBoardmemberisaskedtomakeapersonallysignificantannualfinancialdonationofanyamount.Bymakingapersonallysignificantannualdonation,Boardmemberswilldemonstratetothepublic,thefundersandotherconstituenciesthattheBoardbelievesin,andsupports,theprogramsoftheNetwork.

AsfeasibleandneededtoenableparticipationatNetworkactivities,theNetworkmayreimburseBoardmembers’travelexpenses,suchasmileageorlodging,withincertainguidelines,asrequestedonacase-by-casebasis.

Boardmembersareaskedtofulfillthefollowingtimecommitments:

•Attendquarterlyday-longBoardmeetings,normallyheldatlocationsacrossMinnesotaonthesecondMondaysofMarch,June,September,andDecember.Overnightstaysmaybenecessary,dependingonthedistancetoeachmeeting’slocation.Forexample,recentmeetingshavebeenheldinBrainerd,Cloquet,Hutchinson,Moorhead,Rochester,St.Cloud,andSt.Paul.

•AttendtheMinnesotaFatherhoodSummit,theNetwork’sannualwinterconference.

•AttendaNewBoardMemberOrientationatthestartoftheterm.

•Performadditionalduties,averaging1-4hoursmonthly,bytele-conference,e-mail,andsmallgroupmeetings.

•Faithfullyserveforthedurationofa3-yearterm,beginninginJanuary.
