WED 463 – COURSE REQUIREMENTS AND ASSIGNMENTS
ASSIGNMENT CRITERIA
All assignments are required to have a cover sheet. The basic purpose of the cover sheet is to improve the professional appearance of written reports and establish an appropriate context for the report. While each cover sheet should be unique, all of the cover sheets should include common elements that promote professional appearance through uniformity of basic standards. A good cover sheet should meet all of the following criteria:
Include the writer's NAME, the DATE, and COURSE AND COURSE NUMBER.
Include an appropriate TITLE for the report, which should be centered on the top third of the Cover Sheet.
Include a STATEMENT OF PURPOSE (placed just below the title of the report) that clearly indicates the purpose of the report.
Include BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION using the APA style Guide.
It is very important for your written work to be PROFESSIONAL. The following criteria will be used to grade the assignment (WRITING QUALITY - clarity of expression, word precision, liveliness, transitions, interest, pacing, etc.; SUBSTANCE AND QUALITY OF THINKING - depth of discussion, critical analysis, etc.; and GRAMMAR AND STYLE - correct punctuation, grammar, appropriate, etc.).
The eight required competency assignments for this course are intended to be the vehicles through which students will demonstrate their knowledge of course topics and indicate their ability to master specific course competencies. All assignments will be evaluated by the instructor and returned to the student not later than the next class session after the session that they were received. Anyone who does less than satisfactory work on any assignment will be give specific suggestions relative to what needs to be improved and asked to redo that assignment.

4 Points: The student has a complete and detailed understanding of the information important to the topic. / 4 Points: The student can perform the skill or process important to the topic with no significant errors and with fluency. Additionally, the student understands the key features of the process.
3 Points: The student has complete understanding of the information important to the topic but not in great detail. / 3 Points: The student can perform the skill or process important to the topic without making significant errors.
2 Points: The student has an incomplete understanding of the topic and/or misconceptions about some of the information. However, the student maintains a basic understanding of the topic. / 2 Points: The student makes some significant errors when performing the skill or process important to the topic but still accomplishes a rough approximation of the skill or process.
1 Points: The student's understanding of the topic is so incomplete or has so many misconceptions that the student cannot be said to understand the topic. / 1 Points: The student makes so many errors in performing the skill or process important to the topic that they cannot actually perform the skill or process.
0 Points: No Judgment can be made about the student's understanding of the topic. / 0 Points: No judgment can be made about the student's ability to perform the skill or process.
EVALUATION in order to earn credit for this course the materials submitted must meet the specific criteria stated above.
The seven competency assignments for WED – 463 are as follows:
1. Chapter or Text Chapter Presentations (Students will be required to present on the chapters of the text. Each student will be assigned a Unit on the first day of class).
2. Oral Presentations, using Power Point or Other Presentation Software on the “Factors That Influence Assessment of Learner Performance in Cultural Diverse Situation.” {This is to be a reaction presentation on an article open to class discussion). 3. Calculations using Measurement and Evaluation Instruments (Students will calculate various examples using measurement instruments (i.e., Measures of Central Tendency (mean, median, and mode), Measures of Dispersion (standard deviation) using MicroSoft Excel.

5. Video Review (Students will be required to review an educational video, and write a report on its relationship to education and learner performance. Each scholar must select a popular movie, currently playing in local movie theaters or available on video (DVD or VHS), view that movie and prepare a written report and prepare it to the class…hard copies of that report are to be submitted to the instructor and all students prior to their presentation. 6. Fictitious Story Using the Glossary of Terms (Students will write a fictitious story using all the terms listed on pages 223-225 of the course text. Students will be assessed on how well their terms accurately tell their story).
7. Portfolio Documentation (Students are required to submit a portfolio, including all assignments and in accordance with the criteria provided).
