DRIVING A BAND VEHICLE AND NEED TO PARK

Parking is for only 1 (one) vehicle per band. Once you’re in Old Sacramento you are close to most venues. Parking for performers is a challenge each year and this year will be no different. Please read these instructions carefully to avoid the major inconvenience and expense to you of having your vehicle towed.

Here are some suggestions:

Have all the band equipment you need for your set in 1 designated vehicle. There just isn’t available parking in Old Sacramento for extra vehicles. Parking closest to the Old Sacramento venues are for the band that is performing and the next band. Please be courteous and move your vehicle if you’re NOT performing. Your fellow musicians THANK YOU!

Hotel location: - If you have an authorized band vehicle hang tag and you are scheduled at a hotel venue you should be able to pull up in front and unload your instrument(s). Parking at any of the hotel locations is always a challenge. Those of you with good parking attendant negotiating skills will have to use them. Please show up for your set with enough time to deal with your vehicle at these locations.Sorry, you’re on your own for overnight parking. Please see the attached map or festival program for public parking garages or find a spot on the street. The Sacramento Music Festival provides parking for authorized band vehicles with hang tags during festival hours only!

Make sure your vehicle is properly identified with the hang tag that we provide to you. The city will be towing vehicles that ARE NOT identified with the proper hang tag. A comprehensive list of available public parking garages is available in the festival program. The festival parade will take place on SATURDAY at 10:00 AM. The streets in Old Sacramento will be closed during the parade.

AUTHORIZED BAND PARKING PERMIT (hang tag)

YOUR BAND PACKETS MAY CONTAIN A BAND VEHICLE PARKING PASS (HANG TAG)

THE PARKING PERMIT GETS YOU IN OLD SACRAMENTO BEFORE AND DURING YOUR PERFORMANCE TIME. ONLY 1 PARKING PERMIT FOR 1 BAND VEHICLE WILL BE ISSUED.

Where you can park with a PERMIT (hang tag)

All unreserved diagonal parking spaces located on FRONT STREET between J & K AND K & L.

Designated areas (2 SPACES RESERVED FOR BAND VEHICLES, 1 FOR BAND PERFORMING AT FREEWAY GARDENS AND 1 FOR THE BAND THAT IS TO FOLLOW) are located at rear of the FREEWAY GARDENS venue directly under Interstate 5 Freeway. Oak alley is the only access to this parking area. You must enter Old Sacramento on I street to 2nd street and find OAK ALLEY between J & K on the left hand side of the street.

Friendly reminder: PEDESTRIANS!!!! PLEASE BE CAREFUL DRIVING THRU OLD SACRAMENTO

WHERE CAN I LEAVE MY STUFF UNTIL MY SET?

Musicians are welcome to use our festival storage building located in Old Sacramento at the Eagle Theatre, Front and J Street (next to Turntable on the Green)(shown as the “Hat Wrack” in Program map). Our volunteers will check your equipment in and give you a ticket stub to be used when you re-claim your belongings. Instruments are left at YOUR OWN RISK. The Sacramento Music Festival is not responsible for lost or stolen items. The site is open during Festival hours only.

YOUR SETS & CD SALES

Your set times/days/venue locations are posted on our website

Please start and end your set on time.

All of the youth stages are 45-minute sets with 30 minutes for changeover between bands. You should play 45 minutes leaving 30 minutes for thechangeover to the next band. Please clear the band stand as soon as your set is over .THANKS!

Merchandise sales: A table to sell your CD/DVDs, Videos and shirtswill be available at the venue sites during your performance times. We do not provide volunteers to sell your products. Please check with the site manager at your venue for the exact location of the sales area and if you do need one of our volunteers to help sell your merchandise, let the site manager know and they may be able to accommodate you.

A festival staff representative will be at the venue sales table to assist you with information and provide you with a “RECORDING SALES LOG.” When your sales have been completed a member of the site staff will inventory your recordings with you and give you a copy of the inventory sheet. The difference between the beginning inventory and closing inventory will be used to determine how many recordings were sold at the set.

The artist sets their own prices for their CD/DVDs, Videos and shirts. STJS will be collecting fifteen (15%) percent of all sales from the Artist and/or Artist’s band. The CA State Board of Equalization requires STJS to pay sales tax on every unit the Artist sells at our event. The percentage rate is established at time of sale. The balance partially offsets BMI and ASCAP costs that are incurred. Your prompt payment of the amount due will be appreciated. Several bands have band members who also have recordings to sell. This is strictly at the discretion of the band leader. All recordings from a band, including individual band members, will be included on the same site sales inventory sheet.

WHAT’S PROVIDED ON THE STAGES?

BASS AMPS

We provide bass amplifiers on all of the stages. They are “Frontman 60B” bass amplifiers manufactured by Fender. The availability of the bass amplifiers on the festival stages does not preclude bass players performing at the festival from bringing their own if they choose to do so.

Bass players need to provide their own bass, pick-ups and patch cords.

GUITAR AMPS

Please bring the amp of your choice for your performance.

PIANOS

There will be anupright piano and/or digital piano at each site. Please do not place drinks on the pianos or dismantle them. Thanks!

DRUMS

There will be a drum set in every performance site that will have at least………….

1 - Bass drum & foot pedal2 - cymbal stands

1 - shell mounted tom 1 - hi-hat stand (less cymbals)

1 - 16 X 16 floor tom1 - hi-hat clutch

1 - snare drum with stand 1 - drum throne

We won’t have any extra cymbals so…………….. don’t forget yours!

Please bring your sticks, brushes, cymbals, and any auxiliary equipment. There will be hi-hat clutches with the drums at each performance- please leave the hi-hat clutch for the next drummer. Throw your personal hi-hat clutch in your bag just to be safe……………

Other stuff: We don’t have music stands and lights so bring what you need.

SOUND SYSTEMS

SKIP’S MUSIC is providing the sound equipment on all stages for the 2017 Sacramento Music Festival. An “easy to operate system” will be provided. As you know, sound is an imperfect science, so if problems arise PLEASE be patient and remember that most of the sound and event folks are volunteers (they receive nothing but your thanks as their pay.) If problems do arise, don’t forget to help the audience to continue to have an enjoyable time as our sound crew or site manager resolves the issue.

IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM DURING THE FESTIVAL…………

Please go to the festival office trailer located behind Freeway Gardens in Old Sacramento. We will do our best to provide a solution.

SACRAMENTO MUSIC FESTIVAL VOLUNTEERS

These are the folks who make this event work for all of us! There are approximately 1,700 hardworking and dedicated volunteers doing their best to make this a very special weekend for everyone involved. Please accept their guidance and help and treat them courteously, and most importantly; Thank them for volunteering. We couldn’t do the event without them.

We are looking forward to a great Sacramento Music Festival!
