£9.73 per hour
Rate comprises of £8.70 per hour plus £1.03 per hour for rolled up holiday pay = £9.73 per hour

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE POST:
To work on an occasional basis to supplement permanent staff when required toassist in the smooth running of community services to provide assessment, one to one and group support to clients, addressing identified needs in a manner reflective of their dignity and self worth which encourages and assists such clients to address their health and social problems.

BANK SUPPORT WORKER(COMMUNITY SERVICES)

The post-holder will be required to work within and represent the principles, ethos and values of Caritas Diocese of Salford in all aspects of their work.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

The post-holder will work in line with the Policies & Procedures of Caritas Diocese of Salford. They will also be required to ensure that service users/clients, staff and volunteers are treated in accordance with the Equal Opportunities policy of Caritas Diocese of Salford with particular emphasis on anti-discriminatory practice and the promotion of the rights of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

SAFEGUARDING

The post-holder will be required to ensure that children, young people and vulnerable adults are safeguarded, and must be aware that everyone has a safeguarding responsibility and a duty to refer any safeguarding concerns they may have to their line manager.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. To assist in the setting up of any centre prior to opening time and closing.
  1. To welcome and work with all clients warmly in a manner which acknowledges their dignity and self worth.
  1. To adapt to the different community services settings, showing flexibility and sensitivity to work alongside staff and volunteers in the differing services and settings as required.
  1. To sensitively engage with clients to address the issues which have contributed to their need to access the centre’s services.
  1. To assess the practical and emotional needs of a client, draw up an agreed support plan, track progression and ensure that the plan is regularly reviewed.
  1. To draw up and agree a service work plan with Support Workers that advises clients on practical issues such as accessing benefits, housing, health and substance abuse services, fitness, training, volunteering and employment opportunities.
  1. To keep up to date with the range of statutory and voluntary services established to assist adults with health, social welfare, financial, legal, housing and addiction problems and to advocate with these services on the clients’ behalf.
  1. To maintain administrative data, documentation and records that demonstrate the effectiveness of the post and assist in monitoring clients’ progress.
  1. To capture all data that supports the monitoring and evaluation of the support plans that contribute to the centre’s performance as a whole.
  1. To support clients through a range of issues including alcohol or drug abuse or working in areas such as the sex industry.
  1. To assist with the resettlement of clients to help them to obtain suitable housing.
  1. To co-ordinate drop-in sessions for clients.
  1. To accompany clients to meetings with other agencies or healthcare professionals.
  1. To carry out risk assessments during all client sessions.
  1. To support the training of clients in life skills / education.
  1. To liaise with other support workers, social workers and relevant members of the healthcare profession.
  1. To assist with the recruitment and mentoring ofvolunteers in the delivery of assessments and support plans for clients within the centre.
  1. To attend meetings and training courses as requested.
  1. To carry out any other duty, commensurate with the level of the post, as may be determined by the Director.

As a charity Caritas Diocese of Salford relies on a certain amount of fundraising. All members of staff are expected to contribute to fundraising activities and to be committed to promoting Caritas Diocese of Salford at every opportunity.

Health and Safety General Responsibilities:

All employees have a responsibility for their own health and safety and that of others while undertaking their duties. Employees have a general duty to assist Caritas Diocese of Salford in implementing its general statement within the Health and Safety Policy.

All employees must report workplace hazards to their Line Manager and must report any injury or illness arising from workplace activities as outlined in Caritas Diocese of Salford guidance.
