Union of Mongolian Architects Laureate Prizes
Union of Mongolian Architects established in 1957 period. And October of 2006 Mongolian Architects celebrated a 50 years anniversary of the Union. Members of Union of the Mongolian Architects, are now 337 people and 25 percent of them are women and 52 architects received the Laureate Prize of the Union of the Mongolian Architects and 7 of them are women. Sigrid Rupp wrote in newsletter 2001/13 about two architects D.Tsevelmaa O.Sarantsatsral was honored Laureate Prize of Union of Mongolian Architects.
Purev Dambadarjaagiin (b.1946) graduated in architecture (1973) from Bucharest, Romania and was appointed architect of State Construction Design Institute in Ulaanbaatar. She designed (from 1973-to 1989) about 30 projects; two Hi Schools, University for Teachers Education in Ulaanbaatar and in Khovd province and this project received a Laureate Prize of the Union of Mongolian Architects. In 1990, Purev started to work in the private sector, Building Design Company MONAR. This period many architects entered into private practice. Most of her projects of this period where individual retail stores, small hotels, and restaurants. Purev’s family all are architects. Her husband Orgil Maidar is an Architect, Professor, Ph.D in the Mongolian University of Science and Technology, High School of Architecture and Civil Engineering. Her two daughters Narzaia and Amarzaia both are architects working in Urban Planning, Research and Design Institute in Ulaanbaatar.
Sarantuya Gongorjaviin (b.1952) Engineer constructor. After high school she worked in a drafts person in the Construction Design State Institute in Ulaanbaatar. 5 years later she studied in Technical University of Mongolia engineer constructor. Sarantuya worked with architect Purev for University for Teachers and many projects for education. Projects for education received Laureate Prize of the Union of Mongolian Architects.
Biambasuren Luvsandamdingiin (b.1955) graduated in architecture (1978) from Mongolian Technical University in Ulaanbaatar and was appointed architect of State Construction Design Institute. She started her project design work from urban planning and she did many project the master plans for provincial city’s and towns. In 1983, Biambasuren developed a master plan and urban design of the center of Khovd City of Khovd province. This project was for the conservation of the old city Khovd and renovation and remodeling in contemporary live. The Khovd City is a oldest historical city Mongolia. The Master plan of Khovd City received a Laureate Prize of the Union of Mongolian Architects. Now she is working in City government for urban planning specialists.
Tsend-Aiush Sanduijaviin (b.1961) graduated in architecture (1986) from the Mongolian Technical University in Ulaanbaatar and started her project design work from Agricultural Construction Institute. Until 1994 year she worked in this Institute for master plans of farms and surrounding areas of Agricultural Industries. In 1994, she worked in the private sector and started to design public buildings and master plan tourist camps. In 2001-2003, Tsend-Aiush designed apartment complex of Hurd Company in Ulaanbaatar and in 2005 year finished building construction work this apartment complex. This project received Laureate Prize of the Union of Mongolian Architects. She designed in her project midsize apartments, two and tree rooms, and open space kitchen with living.
Tumen-Ulzii Samdangiin (b.1958) graduated in architecture (1982) from the Mongolian Technical University in Ulaanbaatar and started her project design work from Construction Design Institute of Agricultural. In this Institute she worked on master plans for provincial centers, farms and 1989 she start to work in the State Construction Design Institute at Urban planning department. She carried out the Master Plans of over the 15 cities human settlement and urban developments projects, regional development projects, tourist development projects; General project in development of tourism in Mongolia, Project of development for regional zones, Development Project Core centers of Mongolia and Human Settlement Project of Mongolia. Human settlement Project of Mongolia received Laureate Prize of the Union of Mongolian Architects.
