Year 8 Unit 4: Ecosystems and the Tropical Rainforest
This unit will last until Easter: Tick each of the bullet points when you can explain or do them
You will understand many of the following:
  • that an ecosystem is made up of plants and animals
  • the way the 4 ecosystems taught about are actually made by the climate they have
  • that ecosystems are made up of plants, animals and the non-living environment (air, water etc)
  • that the rainforest is at ever increasing risk as Brasil develops its economy
You should also be able to do many of these:
  • Show on a map where the TRF ecosystems are in the world generally and specifically where Brasil’s is.
  • Explain what the climate in Brasil’s TRF is
  • To define all the words in the vocabulary box below.
  • Explain how and why are we destroying the rainforests of the world
  • To begin to explain why protecting the TRF is vitally important to the future of the world
  • Explain what the link is between rainforests and global warming
  • Show how plants and animals have adapted to the TRF ecosystem
