VOLUNTEERS IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS (VIPS)
Everyone who volunteers in the HEB ISD must complete a background check form - this is done to ensure safety of all students. It’s easy to sign up. Simply go to the band website and click on the “Volunteer Hours.” This will take you to the VIPS Log In page. Also, for every $5.00 donated, you accumulate 1 volunteer hour. Make sure you choose LD Bell as your location for the volunteer hours and donations.
MARCHING UNIFORMS
For more information, contact Kathleen Hill at . Uniform cleaning instructions can be found on the Band website. There are some dry wick shirts available for purchase for $15 and gloves for $3. If you want patches for letter jackets, the BOA competitions are a great place to purchase them.
Flag Sewing
Our Flag Sewing group has one last project. The color guard will be using flags that represent torn sails. If you know how to use and are old enough to wield a pair of scissors effectively, your talents are needed!!! The group will be working every night this week in the band hall from 5:30-8:30 p.m.
BOA San Antonio
Saturday, November 2, 2013; 3:30 am students arrive and load busses at LD Bell High School; 4:00 am depart for San Antonio, TX.
9:00 am arrive at Alamodome; 10:15 am trucks unload; 10:40am band warm-up begins, 11:45 am Prelims Performance, 12:00 pm back to busses for lunch; 1:30 pm transition to conference rooms in the Alamodome for rest, relaxation and dinner
Finals Schedule (based on earliest possible draw time for finals) 5:15-5:45pm get equipment off busses-trucks/get water/assemble for transit. 6:05pm Warm-up, 7:15pm Finals performance (this performance could be as late as 10:30pm); 11:00pm Awards presentation, 11:30 p.m. back to buses – Load and Depart for home. Sunday, November 3, 2013; 4:30 – 5:00 a.m. approximate arrival back at LD Bell High School.
Community Performance
Tuesday, November 12 - rehearsal begins at 6:30, performance in uniform at 9:00 p.m.
BOA Grand Nationals Indianapolis, Indiana; November 13-17 – Detailed information will be provided, as it is available.
Fuzzy’s Watch Party
For those that are unable to make the trip to Indianapolis you can go to Fuzzy’s Taco in Euless and watch the Band perform. There should be a private room reserved in the back. Remember with any food purchased a percentage of the proceeds will be donated back to the band. Contact Lisa Irby, or Yuko Lynch , and let them know you are coming
HOSPITALITY
Water, bottles of Gatorade and individually wrapped snacks are needed for the upcoming contests. Please bring your donations to the band hall. If you have any questions about the types of snacks needed, please contact Michelle Stanley at with any questions.
