4 / Review the elements of a text-dependent question. Read the Text Dependent Questions and CCSS information sheet – paying particular attention to the section titled Framing Text Dependent Questions.

PPT Slides 10 / Using Declaration of Independence excerpt, with a partner determine which of these questions are text dependent. Share your answer and an explanation with the group.

Begin with step one --- if your answer is no then your question does not meet the criteria. Which of the close reading skills listed in step 2 are the most difficult for your students? Discuss with an elbow partner.
