Introduction to Microsoft Office Mix

What is Office Mix?

Office Mix is an add-on to Microsoft PowerPoint 2013 which turns your presentations into interactive online lessons which can be shared with anyone.

Installing Office Mix

- Go to

Click on GettingStarted

- Click on Get Office Mix

- When prompted, click on Sign inwith an organizational account

- From this screen, enter your fullPISD email address and press tab:

- You will be redirected to another page.
- Enter your password and click on Sign in:

- The browserwill download a program named OfficeMix.Setup.exe

- Save and then run the program.

- Follow the prompts to complete installation of the program.

Creating Your First Mix

- Create a new PowerPoint presentation by clicking on
FileNew Blank Presentation

- Name your Title Slide My First Office Mixand then click on
InsertNew SlideTitle Only

- Title your slide Smile!Thenclick on the Mix Ribbon

- You should see these tools:

- Click on Record:You should then see a screen which allows you to add annotations to the screen.

- Click on the Record button:

- Draw a smiley face on the screen while you record audio (such as Hello my name is ______.)

- When you are done, click on the Stop button in the bottom corner:

- You should have a slide similar to this:

- Click on Close:

Adding a Quiz

- Add a new slide by clicking on Click on InsertNew SlideTitle Only

- Title the slide SampleQuiz

- Click on MixQuizzes Video Apps

- You should see a list of Lab Apps for Office.
- Click on True False QuizAdd.

- When prompted, click on Trust It:

- Hover over a corner to resize and move the box:

- Enter the following, then click outside of the quiz box.

Adding a Video From Khan Academy

- Insert a new Title Only slide and name it Adding Fractions

- Click on MixQuizzes Video Apps

- Click on Add next to Khan Content from Microsoft:

- When prompted, click on Trust It:

- Resize the window and move it to the center of the screen.

- Search for adding fractions and select one of the results.

- Click on Insert.

- The video should now appear on your page:

Adding Other Content

- Insert a new slide, then click on MixQuizzes Video Apps and try out some of these other options:

- You can add a variety of other items such as these:

Adding a Screen Recording

- Insert a new Title Only Slide and name it How to Access the PISD Home Page

- Click on MixScreenRecording

- Resize the box and click on the Recording button:

- Open a browser and navigate to the Pasadena ISD home page.

- Press Ctrl+Shift+F12 to stop the recording.

- The recording will now appear on the slide:

- You can also use this tool to add a screenshot:

Uploading to Mix

- Click on Upload to Mix:

- The program will now perform three functions.
- Click on the Next button to advance through the steps:

- When prompted, click on

- Enter your full email address on this screen and press tab:

- As before, you will be redirected to another login screen:

- Enter your password and click on Sign In

- When prompted, click on Next.

- Your mix will be uploaded:

- When the process is complete, click on View and Manage your Mix:

- A pop-up login window will open

- When prompted, enter your password and click on Sign In.

- You can now name your Mix, set the Permission and Sharing Options, and copy the link to your Mix.

- You can access and manage all of your Mixes from the MyMixes button:
