NB: A Major Fatal Crash is determined by the RTMC using the following criteria:
- a crash in which five (5) or more persons are killed;
- a fatal crash in which five (5) or more vehicles are involved; or
- a fatal crash in which vehicles carrying hazardous substances are involved;
- any high profile crash that the Corporation feels necessary to investigate;

- Road Safety Hints in Respect of Contributory factors and Crash types
-Head on Collisions
- Motorists must ensure that it is safe to overtake before doing so. “When in doubt, don’t”. Barrier line overtaking is prohibited and offenders will be arrested.
- When intending to pass a slow moving vehicle on a two-way road, motorists are advised to employ the techniques of defensive driving: Ask yourself:

-Single vehicles Overturning
- This could be as a result of fatigue amongst others; motorists are urged to take regular breaks when driving long distances.
- Tyres bursts also lead to loss of control over the vehicle, motorist are to check the tyre pressure especially when undertaking long journeys.
