Dayton-based DRS Advanced ISR (Intelligence, Reconnaissance & Surveillance) is a rapidly growing and profitable strategic business unit of DRS Technologies. THE POSITION
Reporting directly to the Advanced ISR VP&GM, and leading a geographically dispersed team of HR professionals, the newly appointed Director of HR will be a true business partner to the VP&GM and the executive staff, and will serve as a trusted coach and confidant regarding human capital issues and initiatives company-wide. This individual will provide overall HR leadership in such areas as employee relations, key level recruiting, leadership development, performance management systems, succession planning, compensation/benefits administration, legal compliance and general training & development. As a key member of the senior executive staff, the successful candidate will indeed have “a place at the table” as it relates not only to HR activities, but also as it relates to the development of overall business strategies.
THE NEED
Professional qualificationsfor this position should include:
- Strong human resources generalist skills:Successful candidates will possess a well-rounded HR generalist background (manufacturing background strongly preferred) and will have a minimum of five years in a leadership position.
- Relevant experience: Successful candidates will have demonstrated experience in directing and coordinating a human resources function which focuses not only on routine transactional activities, but also on leading the implementation of broader initiatives which focus on attracting, retaining and developing the employee base. Specific experience must include:
- Proven experience in organizational development, including leadership development, succession planning, high potential identification/development and performance management systems.
- Demonstrated success in developing high performance subordinate teams which consistently meet or exceed organizational expectations.
- The ability to think strategically while energizing/aligning people to achieve his/her vision for Advanced ISR HR,
- The ability to effectively communicate and present information to employees and other key stakeholders on the executive team.
- The personal and professional skills necessary to assume the role of trusted advisor, coach and confidant.
