Please manage your time so that you can finish all parts of this assignment on time.

For this assignment (chapter 1), you do not need the Student Data Files, but it is a good idea to get those files now for later chapters.

If you do not have the CD that comes with the textbook, you may download the files from the author's web site at

Do the following and submit it (them) by the due date or earlier:

You do not need to print the end results. Onceall projectsare completed, simply log onto ANGEL and use the "Assignment 1 Drop Box" to submit them. Please plan to submit all database files at the same time. If your database files are too large, you can submit them one at a time. You can also *zip* and submit them (as a group or individually).

IMPORTANT:

You must give a proper name to your database files (as explained in the book) prior to submitting them. Each file must start with Project Number, Database file name, your firstname, and then, last name. Here is an example: 1A_Guests_Nancy_Nelson.accdb

To compress (zip) your database file:

Right click on the file name, select "Send To", and click on the "Compressed (zipped) folder".

You can submit files up to 10MB via ANGEL at any given time.

How to Submit Assignment #1:

When you complete your assignment #1, you will have two databases. In another word, the following databases are the ones you will be submitting for assignment #1:

1A_Guests_Fristname_Lastname.accdb (shown on page 3)

1B_Inventory_Firstname_Lastname.accdb (shown on page 36)

(First name and Last name are your actual name, i.e. Nancy Nelson)

Here is the instruction on how to submit your assignments, in this case, Assignment #1:

Create a folder on the desktop, name it: Assignment #1 Your Name (i.e. Assignment #1 Nancy)

Locate your projects 1A and1B, Copy and Paste them inside Assignment #1 Your Name folder

Close the folder (if it is open)

Right click on the folder, select “Send To” and then, click on the “Compressed (zipped) Folder”

Now, you should see another folder on the desktop with the “zip” extension: “Assignment #1 Your Name.zip”

(Note: Only files/folders with “zip” extension are accepted)

Now you should be ready to upload your folder and submit it

Log onto ANGEL (

Click on your class “Summer 2011 – MIC 120 // Database Management …” to enter

Click on the “Class” tab

Click on the “MIC 120: Microsoft Access 2007, Summer 2011”

Click on “(WK1) Module 1”

Click on Assignment #1

Click on Assignment 1 Drop Box

Type "Assignment #1" inside the text box, under the Title (No need to include your name)

Click on "Attachment"

(Once the attachment window is open, you need to upload the “zipped” folder that contains two databases)

Click on "Browse…" button

Locate the folder “Assignment #1 Your Name.zip” (on the desktop), select and "Open" it

Click on "Upload File"

When the folder is uploaded, click on "Finished"

(You should see the folder with your name.zip under "Attachment" button)

Click on "Submit" when you are ready to submit your assignment #1

The same instruction applies to ALL assignments.

PLEASE NOTE:

If your “zipped” folder (or all databases) exceeds 10MB, it cannot be submitted via ANGEL at one time. You need to divide and submit it in two parts, i.e. Assignment #1 – Part1 and Assignment #2 – Part 2.

Also, when a file is too big to be submitted (over 10MB), I suggest that you open it and then, Re-Save it as a different name (add a 1 or 2 at the end of it) and place it on the desktop. Once on the desktop, you can zip it.

IMPORTANT:

Each assignment is due on SaturdayPRIOR to 11:59PM. If an assignment is submitted at 12:00AM or after, even it may be 1 or 2 minutes late, it is considered a late assignment! Late assignments can be submitted up to three days late with 7 points (25% of 28) deduction per day. No Exception Can Be Made!
