Lion King Parent Information Packet – Fall 2016

Hello everyone and welcome to the STAR Kids Fall Production- Disney’s The Lion King Jr.! I am so excited to get started with this process and I am looking forward to working with you and your kids. Everything you need to know should be in this packet, but please let me know if you have any questions!

STAR Kids Standards

  1. While in the space, all members of the cast/crew will conduct themselves with respect. Everyone is an equal, and STAR Kids time is a time where everyone should feel safe and included- always!
  2. Be ready to begin rehearsal at the scheduled time and be picked up promptly. If you must be late for a rehearsal, inform Ashley via text please at 209-598-3891. You will always be let out on time.
  3. Missing rehearsals is not ideal. Please let Ashley know ahead of time of your absences. We have the right to recast a role, should too many rehearsals be missed, this includes arriving late, and leaving early.
  4. Please wear comfortable clothing to move around in. If wearing a skirt or dress, please wear shorts underneath. Shoes must be worn at all times. No sandals, flip flops, or anything related. Tennis shoes, ballet shoes, jazz shoes are all acceptable. You will need black shoes anyway for the show, so just buy a cheap pair and leave them at rehearsals.
  5. Bring your script, water, pencil, and a snack to rehearsals and shows.
  6. Know your lines and blocking.
  7. Do your job. If you are an actor, act! It is not your job to tell other actors what to do, leave that to Ashley and her crew (that rhymed).
  8. Bring a positive energy when come to rehearsals and shows! This is all about having fun!

Casting

STAR Kids in no way, shape, or form “pre-casts” roles, or casts roles based on experience or past productions. Everyone is given a completely fair chance regardless of prior theatre/STAR Kids experience. It is our goal at STAR Kids for every young person to have a completely enriching and fun time putting together a show, no matter the role they are cast as. Thank you so much for supporting this.

STAR Kids Talent Night Fundraiser

Saturday, October 1 @7PM

Rehearses at 3PM on October 1, dinner break in between show and rehearsal

Tickets $10 plus baked goods and raffle prizes? (Can you help organize?)

To participate: Any STAR Kids cast member can perform. Each child may perform in a 2-3 minute act of their choice. Does not have to be singing or dancing. Can your child show off martial arts skills? Ballet? Under water basket weaving? Are they an artist? Tell me what! Students have to prepare their own acts and get approval from Ashley. If you need help editing music I can do that. No lip syncing as a talent!

Regardless of whether or not they can perform an act, I would love for the cast of Lion King and our little production of Aladdin to perform a number. So if you can make yourself available, that would be great 

Please have your child sign up with me to perform, must be available for the rehearsal beforehand.
