(Re): Case #278346

/ Plaintiff’s Name:
Della Spring
Age: 77
From:
Far Point, Saskatchewan / Testimony:
“Jethro Yule is not a good person. He publishes a newspaper called “The Statesman” which allows him to write horrible things about how women should be treated in our society. He has said that “women should be the slaves of our society” and that “women should be beaten if they do not obey the men of the world.” His words have caused people to create rallies where they profess their hatred of women and female equality. At the last rally, one woman was nearly killed by the crowd when she expressed her disagreement with Jethro’s ideas. Yule’s publication must be stopped or it will tear this community apart!”
/ Defendant’s Name:
Jethro Yule
Position:
Editor-in-Chief, The Statesman
Age: 70
From: Far Point, Saskatchewan / Testimony:
“I am but a simple old man. “The Statesman” is my way of expressing my opinion. As a citizen of Canada, I have the right to express myself and my opinion. I have never physically harmed another human being, nor does Mrs. Spring accuse me of lifting a finger against a woman. It is true that some of my followers became overzealous at a rally, but that is their responsibility, not mine. They were adults who made their own decision. My newspaper is my right!”
