VI.  Guest Speakers

A.  Bryan Miller, Don Coryell, Peggy Stephens, Bobcat Athletics

i.  Bryan Miller: Director of Marketing Promotions: Helps out Sac-N-Pac, and all behind the scenes activities. He thanked ASG fans for coming out to the football games. Mentioned how amazing the new scoreboard is. He mentioned that the athletic department is trying to create a great college game day atmosphere. He asked ASG to help out with the word of mouth on campus and keep the atmosphere positive. Don’t focus just on football; there is also soccer, volleyball and basketball.

ii. Peggy Stephens: First year to be full time with athletic department; graduated last May and started working. Wants to bring things she liked as a student to the athletic department. Reiterated that football is not the only sport. Come support volleyball, basketball, etc. Wants to know feedback for what ASG and other students want at the athletic events in the “marketing department.” As an alumnus, she wants to take pride in the athletic events by supporting.

B.  **Amended** to Joyce Cowan, Election Commissioner

i.  Voter Registration Drive September 17th:.(Constitution Day) All those who are REGISTERED VOTERS said the oath and signed the paper for appointment as volunteer deputy registrar. In order to take back cards students must be a deputy registrar and must use local address. Emphasized when working the tent they must ask about the difference in addresses (local/permanent). One deputy from the drive must bring the cards within 5 days of drive.

C.  Matt Priest, President Student Foundation

i.  He wanted to give ASG the opportunity to get involved with Student Foundation. They greet campus guests, alumni guests, and senators of Texas. Many ASG members have also been members of Student Foundation. They want to promote this university and keep alumni updated on events going on campus. Bobcat Pause and Veterans Day memorial are two examples of events Student Foundation hosts. Student Foundation works alongside President Trauth, Dr. John Garrison and many more. They meet on Sunday nights at 8:00.

VII. Public Forum

A.  Jude Prather: Running for City Council. Told a story about a city councilman who helped change the name of Texas State. Chris Jones was second and youngest Texas State Student elected as city councilman. He got all of his help from ASG to be successful. ***Amendment to extend time by 5 minutes. Admitted.*** He asked ASG to encourage students to register to vote and to be the voice of the students.

VIII.  President’s Report

A.  Reagan is AWESOME!

B.  State of the Student Body Address- Greeted ASG students. Asked to remain firm as bobcats and to stay firm as the student body. State of the Student body is to invest in those students who chose not to. Life experience, leadership, networking are qualities that you will gain and that will fuel you the rest of your life. Be selfless and give a little to grow. Give to university and student body as sworn to do by the best of your ability. Empower you and empower the students. Move forward together and in nine months from now we will stand here and look back at all the accomplishments we did. We all need each other, make yourself known in your classrooms because IT’S A GREAT DAY TO BE A BOBCAT!

C.  Introduced the Executive Committee and asked to welcome them.

D.  Disappointed about the Baylor bus turnout. Only 13 signed up! Please sign up to support the cats.

E.  Constitution Day, contacting people to help out at drive.

F.  September 11th (tomorrow): we are going to ring the chimes and play the star spangled banner in order to give respect and remember those who lost their lives.

G.  Thanked those who volunteered at the bookstore fair.

H.  University Seminar visits: Will ask 5 Senators to represent ASG in the classes

I.  Constitution Rewrite next meeting on Thursday at 3:30 in PSYC. 336

J.  Dr. Trauth will be here next meeting so dress Business Casual.

K.  Correction on Parliamentarian- should be Treasurer and Senate Selection Committee.

IX.  Vice President’s Report

A.  Committee details: will send out committee rooms so check email on Thursday after 5.

B.  Will soon receive Bobcat Game Day shirts.

C.  Make up Training: 6 pm this room before meeting next week, September 17th.

D.  Introduced nominations for pro tem: Eileen Galvez; External Relations Committee: Ryan Clay; Student Life Committee: Eddy Gomez; Student Relations: Katie Kasprzak; University Relations: Emily Trepanier

A.  Senator Ugo: attended meeting with Small Group.

B.  Sean- administrator officer and officer of NTSO. He informed ASG that NTSO is turning 20 next month and there will be a party that will include the Moon Walk on Oct. 8??? (will clear up date at next meeting) NTSO wants ASG to come to the party to show support.

C.  Senator Aranda-Internship- pays $6 an hour in San Antonio. Campaign for Senator Rodriguez.

D.  Vice President Dabney-All legislation to be included in next week’s agenda is due by Wednesday and you need 2 senate sponsors.
