Below is a list of things your child needs in order to be prepared for school. Please make sure he/she has the following:

ü  an extra set of clothes (pants, shirt, underwear, socks)

ü  indoor shoes to be left at school that your child can put on independently

ü  a lunch bag, water bottle and back pack

ü  a healthy, NUT FREE, litterless lunch and snack

**Please make sure everything is labeled with your child’s name**

Other important information:

ü  Ensure your child is dressed for the weather (we go outside EVERYDAY)

ü  Please check your child’s communication bag and Classroom SeeSaw account for important information

Safe Arrival and Dismissal: ***School begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 2:50 p.m.***

When arriving at school, please walk your child over to the enclosed kindergarten area. Allow your child to independently walk inside the gate to line up with his/her class. A teacher will be outside at 8:15 to supervise the students. Please do not leave your child unsupervised before this time.

Late Arrival / Early Pick-Up: ***Try to be on time and at school every day all dayJ***

If you are running late, please enter through the front doors and sign your child in at the office. The office will arrange to have your child taken to his/her classroom. If your child needs to leave school early, please go to the office to sign him/her out. The office will call your child’s classroom and the teacher will send him/her down.

2:50 p.m. Pick-Up:

To ensure student safety, we ask that parents please wait outside the enclosed area and to leave the gateway clear so that students may exit. When the teacher sees you waiting, she will dismiss your child by calling his/her name. Please encourage your child to return to the teacher if he/she has not been properly dismissed.

It is important that you are on time to pick up your child. We know that things happen, so if you are more than ten minutes late your child will be taken to the office to wait for you. Please use the front door of the school to reach the office.

Family Fridays:

Each month, you will have an opportunity to visit our classroom for Family Friday. More information to come in September J

Birthdays:

Due to numerous allergies and food restrictions, please DO NOT SEND FOOD to school to celebrate your child’s birthday. Although it is not necessary, if you would like to send something for the students in the class, please send items such as erasers, pencils, stickers, bubbles, etc. Any food items sent to school will be sent back home.

Parents are Important PartnersJ

We are looking forward to a great year of working together with you and your child. We are dedicated to making sure your child feels safe, happy, secure, supported and successful. It is important that there is good communication between the teachers and the families of our students. Please feel free and comfortable to talk with the teachers about any concerns or questions you may have. We can have quick chats during arrival/dismissal or if it is a matter that requires more time and attention, please set up a time to meet with or call your teacher. Thank you for your support!

Sincerely,

JThe Ray Lawson Kindergarten TeamJ
