SALARY:£26,700-£31,775

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) is a dynamic and rapidly growing medical research charity that aims to find thecure for type 1 (or juvenile) diabetes through the support of research. Founded in 1986 it is one of the leading funders of diabetes research in the UK. The Aberdeen office is one of 5 JDRF regional offices in the UK (the headquarters is in London) and the first in Scotland where the incidence of type 1 diabetes is the fifth highest in the world.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
To set, monitor and deliver challenging income budgets and targets, expenditure budgets and operational plans for Scotland.
KEY TASKS:
To lead, implement, develop and be responsible for the region’s fundraising portfolio, to include the Walk to Cure Diabetes programme and an annual Gala event in Aberdeen.
To lead and support the Scottish Development Group in Scotland.
The Development Manager will workwith the Scottish Development Group to form strategies and budgets to support the region’s development, recruit senior business executives and others of affluence and influence to serve on the SDG to ensure the widening of networks across Scotland.
To build, maintain and develop relationships with existing corporate contacts, such as the Companies of SDG members and existing Walk to Cure Diabetes corporate supporters to broaden and retain their support of JDRF.
In line with the strategy of the organisation, to implement and support any new revenue generation initiatives including helping to develop 3rd party fundraising in Scotland.
To recruit and develop volunteer committees in the area whose primary aim is fundraising.
To raise awareness of JDRF and type 1 diabetes in the region and implement the Organisation’s outreach strategy.
Work with the Head of Public Affairs to represent JDRF as required at positioning meetings with government, NHS and research bodies.
In association with the Communications Department, implement programmes to raise awareness of the work of JDRF with special emphasis on involving families living with diabetes.
To manage and develop the region’s fundraising team, and all aspects of the regional office including budgets, financial administration, database and mailings.
To be responsible for the delivery of income budgets for the region, minimising costs, maximising Gifts in Kind and deliver a minimum ROI for the region of 1:3
To manage, implement and develop the region’s flagship event, the Walk to Cure Diabetes, an annual Black Tie event in the Aberdeen area and other activities in the fundraising portfolio supporting lead volunteer groups as required.
To research and maintain a good knowledge of the corporate community in the region in order to secure new corporate fundraising support and develop corporate networks with the assistance of the SDG.
To prioritise and account manage the partnerships with companies in the region in order to ensure maximising opportunities and level of support.
To lead and support the activities of the existing JDRF Volunteer groups in the region, actively promote and increase membership in these groups, and actively generate and form new groups across new parts of the region.
To adopt an innovative and creative approach to identify and develop new initiatives and fundraising business cases for the region in conjunction with the Development Managers and Head of Regional Fundraising.
To work closely with national fundraising colleagues to cross-sell and implement a broad range of fundraising initiatives such as Charity of the Year Partnerships, Payroll Giving, EFR, UK & Overseas challenge events, running events and the Friends & Patron schemes
To implement the organisation’s outreach strategy in Scotland to include calls and visits to Diabetes Clinics, building links and promoting JDRF products and initiative, organising Discovery Days
To provide regular 121 meetings, annual Appraisal meetings for the Scotlandfundraising team identifying training needs as appropriate. Direct all support activities associated with the management of a regional office including basic accounting, database management, facilities management.

- A previous fundraising experience at managerial level,
- Proven track record of experience of setting and delivering budgets
- Experience of managing staff and/or volunteers
- Ability to prioritise work load, manage time and meet deadlines.
