STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENT:

  1. Students who have not purchased a decal will need to come to the office and fill out a card to get a decal. If you scored ADVANCED or PROFICIENT on the state test, you will receive a free decal or 5 dollars off a reserved spot.
  2. Any students that have not turned in a lunch form by Tuesday, September 24, 2013, will have to pay $2.50 starting Wednesday, September 25th until they get a form turned in to the cafeteria.
  3. Arrow Court isNovember 14, less than 3 weeks after homecoming. Arrow Court nominations will beMonday, September 30during homeroom, and voting will beThursday, October 3during homeroom. I will have student council members assigned to each homeroom to pick up your packets. Please do NOT send them.
  4. Culture Awareness Society is a club for students who are interested in learning about cultures around the world in a fun way. Go to Ms Olinger's room to pick up an application. To learn more about this club, you can contact Avneet Singh or Divya Gosain.

  13. Ladies and Gentlemen, it's time to clear your throats, tune your instruments and dust off your dancing shoes. Sumner Hill will be hosting "Clinton's Top Talent" on November 15 and 16. Think "American Idol", Clinton style. The competition is open city wide to anyone living in the Clinton City Limits. There will be 2 divisions - The Jr. Division will be grades 7 - 9 and the SR Division will be grades 10 - 12. The preliminary round will be Friday night, November 15 at 7 pm and a panel of judges will choose who gets to return Saturday night November 16 to battle it out for Clinton's Top Talent. $20 registration fee deadline is November 1. For more information, stop by the Sumner Hill Jr. High office or the choir room for a registration form. Spectator tickets can be purchased from any Sumner Hill choir member for $5. Seating is limited so get your tickets soon. Come join the fun as we see who will be named "Clinton's Top Talent"

Voices of Democracy Patriotic Audio Essay Competition: The Voices of Democracy each year conducts a scholarship competition across the United States. Grade prize is a $30,000 scholarship. For entry, students (grades 9-12) can submit an application and a 3-5 minute audio essay. This year’s theme is,Why I’m Optimistic about our Nation’s Future. High School and Community College Day at Tougaloo College will be heldFriday, October 18, 2013, in the campus gym.If you would like to attend, please send an email of interest including name and school attending toby Friday, October 5th.

MississippiState's School of Architecture will offer a free workshop for high school and college students who want to know more about developing quality resumes and portfolios in architecture, art, interior design or building construction.

High-achieving students who plan to become teachers now have a new financial aid opportunity available to them. The Teacher Education Scholars Program provides a $15,000 per year award, which covers tuition, room and board and books for each scholar. Applications for the program are available online.
