A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor of Florian and Eloise Meeks upon the occasion of their Fiftieth and Golden Wedding Anniversary.
WHEREAS, it is appropriate for this venerable body to acknowledge the successes and achievements of special Kentuckians who have had a positive impact on and who have enriched the lives of our fellow citizens; and
WHEREAS, Florian and Eloise Meeks entered into the bonds of holy matrimony fifty years ago at a ceremony conducted by the Reverend Jimmy Lee in Louisville, Kentucky; and
WHEREAS, the tireless and unending efforts of Florian and Eloise Meeks throughout their lives and fifty years of marriage have been beacons of light to all who have known them, and who have similarly entered into the bonds of holy matrimony; and
WHEREAS, the unselfish and unconditional love with which Florian and Eloise Meeks have trained, nurtured, and supported their five children: Renelda Higgins Walker, Lieutenant Colonel Florian Meeks III, Honorable Reginald Kline Meeks, Michael Lamont Meeks, and Kenneth Wendell Meeks, along with the spouses of those children, and their twelve grandchildren, their great-grandchildren, their grand-stepchildren, and their great-grand-stepchildren, can be considered outstanding and remarkable; and
WHEREAS, the institution of marriage can be likened to a flower, watered by the showers of tenderness and affection, illuminated by the radiance of kindness and concern, and guarded by the impenetrable barrier of unshaken trust and confidence; and
WHEREAS, Florian and Eloise Meeks have fertilized their marriage with care and compassion, defended their marriage with honor and devotion, and perfected their marriage through love and spiritual values;
NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. This honorable body proudly honors Florian and Eloise Meeks on the occasion of their Fiftieth and Golden Wedding Anniversary.
Section 2. This august body appropriately acknowledges the Fiftieth and Golden Wedding Anniversary weekend celebration concluding on Sunday, June 21, 1998, and sponsored by the children of Florian and Eloise Meeks, at the Galt House Hotel in Louisville, Kentucky.
Section 3. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor of Florian and Eloise Meeks upon the occasion of their Fiftieth and Golden Wedding Anniversary.
Section 4. The Clerk of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Mr. Michael L. Meeks, Committee Staff Administrator, Personal Service Contract Review Subcommittee of the Legislative Research Commission for presentation to Florian and Eloise Meeks upon the occasion of their Fiftieth and Golden Wedding Anniversary weekend celebration.
