10. Notice that the program will immediately tell you if your

hints to help you out.

11. Once you have answered a question correctly, a check will

appear next to it in the list of questions.

12. Pay close attention to the question; sometimes the way you

need to input the answer is shown in the question.

13. Scientific notation answers should be entered using the

letter e in the place of “x 10 to the”. For example

4.566 x 10-5 should be input as 4.566e-5

This program is very picky about how answers are put in, so a

right answer may be said to be wrong, and the only problem is

how the answer was entered.

Scientific notation numbers may also appear different than

you are accustomed to. The answer above may be given as

4.566e-0005

14. To enter a ratio in CALM, do the following:

1) Reduce the ratio to an X : 1 ratio. For example, if you

had an 8:2 ratio, it would reduce as shown below:

2) The answer you would type in CALM would then be 4

• It is possible to get a ratio involving a decimal. In this

case, you still proceed the same way. For example, if the

ratio for your CALM answer is 3:5, it would reduce as

shown below:

(3 ÷ 5 = .6)

The answer you would type in CALM would then be .6
