Volunteer Role Description – Stonewall Season

Volunteer role purpose / Stonewall Season, supported by Visa, is a week of events right across Britain, led by our supporters, in their workplaces, community, local businesses, places of worships, schools, universities, colleges and much more.
During the last Stonewall Season, thousands of LGBT people came together, alongside our allies, and made a big noise for equality. More than 80 different events took place across 22 towns and cities to celebrate LGBT life and culture: and in 2017, together we will make it bigger than ever.
We are looking for volunteer fundraisers who are keen to support Stonewall Season by attending events to take high quality photographs and film of the events, to ask for testimonies/quotes from event attendees and their permission to use these in marketing materials, to support on delivering resources to event organisers and to provide general support to event organisers at the event as appropriate such as putting up posters, collecting donations using buckets or tins, handing out resources etc.
We are also looking for volunteer support prior to the Stonewall Season to help with planning in our London, Cardiff and Edinburgh offices.
Where: / London and UK Wide
When: / 2 – 8 October 2017
Suggested commitment: / We have a busy schedule of up to 100 events throughout the week, mostly in the evenings, and would like at least one volunteer to attend each event.
We are looking for a minimum commitment of one event of approx. 3 hours.
Suggested activities: / •Taking high quality photographs and film of Stonewall Season events
•Speaking to event attendees and gather quotes and testimonies for use in marketing
•Delivering Stonewall Season resources to events such as collection tins and buckets, posters and decorations
•Collecting donations at Stonewall Season events
•Supporting event organisers with their fundraising activities at the event
•Office role only: Supporting with administrative tasks such as proofreading, checking event listings, managing resource requests from event organisers, research, telephone calls to prospective event organisers and similar such tasks
Experience & skills / •Photography skills or experience preferential
•Passion and enthusiasm for the values and objectives of Stonewall
•Great communicator and people person
•Office role only: Some office administration experience
Supervision and training / Stonewall will provide you with relevant training, and support from a member of the team where applicable
Reimbursement of expenses / Stonewall will cover reasonable travel costs and meals for this role
