A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor of Eboni Neal Cochran.
WHEREAS, Eboni Neal Cochran has quickly made herself known throughout the West End of Louisville Metro as an activist and voice of the community; and
WHEREAS, Eboni Neal Cochran has been an articulate and active participant in West Jefferson County Community Task Force meetings, voicing well-contemplated and meticulously calculated concerns over the quality of air in West End of Louisville Metro; and
WHEREAS, Eboni Neal Cochran was recognized as a special honoree by the Kentucky Alliance Against Racist & Political Repression at the Annual Unity Dinner on January 21, 2006, the landmark occasion each year when Louisville Metro's justice and peace communities bring together a wide and diverse group of activists from many geographic areas, constituencies, and ethnic groupings to honor outstanding individuals who contribute to just and peaceful causes throughout the city; and
WHEREAS, Eboni Neal Cochran has become a leading grassroots, door-to-door organizer of multiple issues of concern by citizens in the West End of Louisville Metro, organizing citizens in the fight against toxic pollution of their neighborhoods through the Rubbertown Emergency Action (REACT), and on a multitude of other issues, such as police brutality, pollution, and livable wage legislation; and
WHEREAS, Eboni Neal Cochran hails from a family of committed, involved, and active individuals: her grandfather, the late Sterling Neal, Sr., a leading union organizer in Louisville in the 1940s; and her father, Sterling Neal, Jr., a grassroots activist and attorney;
NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. This honorable body does hereby express its heartfelt appreciation to Eboni Neal Cochran for her contributions to the citizens of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
Section 2. This venerable institution does hereby recognize Eboni Neal Cochran for her dedication to the residents of the Louisville Metro community.
Section 3. This august body does hereby recognize Eboni Neal Cochran for her commitment to the West End of Louisville Metro community.
Section 4. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor of Eboni Neal Cochran.
Section 5. The Clerk of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Eboni Neal Cochran, c/o Senator Gerald Neal, One Riverfront Plaza, 401 West Main Street, Suite 1807, Louisville, Kentucky 40202.
