Introduction
Thank you for purchasing Gembird® CHM-01 Computer health monitor! This manual will help you install and use it properly.
Installation
1. Before installation make sure that your PC is turned off. Please, disconnect the power cord from the computer power supply.
2. PCB of CHM-01 looks as shown on the picture below:
Please connect CHM-01 with the computer using supplied cables as shown on the pictures below.

Note: please use 4 to 3 pin adapter (included) if the cooling fan you wish to control uses 4-pin power connector.
HDD and Temperature sensor
Temperature sensor should be placed on the CPU’s heat sink as shown on the diagram below:
Warning: Make sure that the cooler fits CPU heat sink properly. In case of any difficulties it is recommended to consult an experienced technician.
After you have connected all the cables please install CHM-01 into the 5,25” bay of computer case using the cross screwdriver.
Front view and operation
The CHM-01 screen is shown on the picture below:
1) Reset button Push this button to return to the factory default settings (date/time, fan speed etc).
2) MODE button This button is used for changing the backlight color and to set/adjust the current date.
To change the color of the backlight – press the MODE button and release it within a short (less than 1 second) time. Every time you push this button the background color will be changed: red Æ greed Æ blue Æ purple Æ white.
To set the date please, follow the steps below:
a) Press MODE button and hold it for at least 1 second. The Day digits will start flashing. Push and hold the MODE button again to select the other fields: Day Æ Month Æ Year Æ Day…
b) To change the Day, Month or Year press C/F button several times until you get the correct value.
If no button is pressed within 10 seconds then the chosen value will stop blinking and will be saved in the memory.
3) SET button This button is used to set the time and temperature alarm.
To set the time, please, follow the steps below:
a) Press and hold SET button for more than 1 second (but less than 3 seconds). The Hour digits will start flashing. Press the SET button and release it within a short (less than 1 second) time. Every time you push this button the other field will be selected: Hour Æ Minutes Æ Hour…
b) To change the Hour or Minute press C/F button several times until you get the correct value.
To set the temperature alarm – press and hold the SET button for at least 3 seconds. The Temperature digits will start flashing. To adjust the value – press C/F button as many times as it is necessary. The alarm will be given if the temperature exceeds the specified value.
If no button is pressed within 10 seconds then the chosen value will stop blinking and will be saved in the memory.
4) C/F button This button is used to change the temperature units (Celsius or Fahrenheit).
Press this button and release it within a short time to change the temperature units from Celsius to Fahrenheit and back.
This button is also used in combination with other buttons to change different values (see the description of the other buttons above).
Display overview
Fan indicator is divided into 3 sections:
· Low (2,000 rpm),
· Middle (3,000 rpm),
· High (4,000 rpm)
Temperature indicator shows:
· Low (0…40°C),
· Middle (41°C …60°C),
· High (61°C and above)
Replacing the battery
CHM-01 has an internal battery which allows it to keep the internal settings and date/time when the computer is switched off. It is recommended to replace the battery once a year; otherwise the internal clock might become not accurate. Use the battery type CR2032 (3V) or compatible for replacement.
To replace the battery, please, follow the steps below:
1. Turn the PC and all connected peripheral devices off.
2. Open the computer cover and unscrew the CHM-01.
3. Pull CHM-01 out.
4. With a medium flat-bladed screwdriver, gently prize the battery out of its place. Note the orientation of the “+” and “-” on the battery.
6. Install the new battery in the battery compartment, orienting the “+” and “-” correctly.
7. Close the computer cover and switch it on.
Caution
· Read, keep and follow these instructions.
· Keep the product out of extreme heat and away from the sources emitting heat, such as heaters, radiators, stoves etc
· Keep the product out of the rain and humid conditions to avoid electric shock.
· Keep the product away from water. In order to avoid electric shock, do not let the water to drip onto the device. Do not put the water containing objects such as vases on top of the device. Do not put the device near the water.
· Only use the accessories supplied by the manufacturer.
· Battery life is around 1 year. Use the battery CR2032, 3V.
· Alarm buzzer will be heard when the temperature is over 60°C (unless a different value is specified).
