It was a year of growth for the Ottawa Branch and we experienced tremendous audiences throughout the year. The final solo contest of the year, the Open Professional, was no exception with about 100 people present at the Army Officers Mess on Somerset to hear 13 outstanding performances. Every competitor played well that evening and their participation was very much appreciated. The judge, Bob Worrall, had a very difficult time coming up with a final three. After much deliberation, the results were announced as follows:
1st… Colin McLellan
2nd… Jenny Hazzard
3rd… Rob Crabtree
The winners are seen here with the Glengarry Cup, awarded to
Colin McLellan.
Our sincere appreciation goes out to the MacLeod Society of
Ottawa and Mr Guy Nadeau who sponsored the prizes for the
evening.
The final event of the year was the Winchester Indoor Games, held 24 April 99. It was great to see the bands out again and the good turnout bodes very well for the future. A special thanks goes out to the judges (Brian Williamson, Ed Bush, Fraser Clark and Jim Bush) and the stewards (Don Williams, Keith Williamson and Doug Heyland) who all put in a long, hard day on our behalf. The Band Results are as follows:
Challenge Band: 1st Ottawa-Carleton 2nd Rob Roy 3rd Spencerville

Grade 4: 1st Spencerville 2nd Glengarry 3rd Fraser Highlanders
