As we approach the end of another extremely busy and exciting year at Rangeview Intermediate School, it is very important that we express our heartfelt thanks to the parents/ caregivers, students, staff and other members of the school community for their continued support of the school. We also need to take time to reflect on what has been a significant year of change in the school’s history. The new home room structure and subject based curriculum has proved to be extremely popular with our students as we endeavour to fully prepare them effectively for their transition into High School.
Prize Giving
What a wonderful occasion the school’s Prize Giving assembly proved to be on Thursday last week. The students were quite magnificent and we as a staff were truly proud of them all! It is on such occasions as this when we really see the outstanding quality of all the students that we have here at Rangeview. The speeches, the performances by the choir and orchestra and the general mass singing were all quite fabulous. We were also truly inspired once again by the impressive performances of our school Kapa Haka group. Sincere thanks must go to all the students as well as the parents and staff who made this event such a memorable day. To recognise their outstanding contribution on this day, all the students will be permitted to come to school in MUFTI on the last ½ day of term, Friday 13th December.

Please be informed that our Principal, Mr Dave Latimer, is currently on leave from school. In the meantime, Mrs Wendy Naidu is our Acting Principal to ensure that the school continues to run smoothly and efficiently to the end of this term.

It is with great sadness that we farewell our wonderful Year 8 students as they head off to the High Schools of their choice not only in West Auckland but also across the wider Auckland region. We send with them our very best wishes for the future and look forward to hearing about their continued successes and achievements. We hope that your experiences as Rangeview students will stand you in great stead for your future challenges. To our current Year 7 students, we look forward to welcoming you back as Year 8s and seeing you set the standards in all areas for our excited new Year 7 students to follow. From a staff perspective, we would very much like to acknowledge those who will not be with us next year and are embarking on new adventures and challenges. We would like to wish Mrs Sally Wylie, Mrs Debbie Anitelea and Mr Brett Hughes all the very best, you will be sadly missed! Please accept our sincere thanks and appreciation for all that you have done in your time here at Rangeview.

Laidlaw College Graduation
On Saturday our Kapa Haka were invited tothe Laidlaw College Graduation at the Trusts Stadium. It was a powerful performance and you all were a credit to the school.

This Wednesday and Thursday, we will be acknowledging our students’ efforts and achievements through our annual certificate assemblies.

Ritchies Buses for 2014
Please be informed that Ritchies school buses will be replacing the current Fast Pass with the AT HOP card for 2014. This change will only impact those students travelling to/ from Rangeview on the 022 bus from the Henderson area.
Before you return to school in 2014, Ritchies inform us that all students must
- Get An AT HOP card
- Register your card
- Load a concession (child)
- Top up your card.
More details will be given out directly to students before the end of term, but we suggest that you check this situation with Ritchies directly or go to their website.
Year 8 Camps 2014 – Totara Springs, Matamata
Last week a letter was sent home explaining how our Year 8 camps will be run next year and outlining the three payment options that will secure a place on one of the school camps, as places are limited. Camp One will be from Monday 24th March – Wednesday 26th March and Camp Two from Wednesday 26th March – Friday 28th March. Full camp timetables and activities will be available from next year. If you would like to take the opportunity to start paying for the camp, payments can be made to the school’s bank account 12 3071 0227935 00. Please ensure that you include your child’s name, homeroom and title “camp” on the payment. If you are a parent/caregiver and are able to assist please contact the school office and leave your name and number. If you wish to know any further information you can email or phone the school office.
Y7 Westwave Trip
On Thursday 12 December our Year 7s will celebrate the year with a trip to Tui Glen and Westwave, with sports and a disco here at school. It is set to be an excellent day and we look forward to finishing off the year with a positive day together.
Uniform
The school always appreciates surplus, clean uniforms, that could be donated to the school. Thank you.

Nutrition Information Evening with Sue Giles

This evening is all about nutrition and your child.Guidelines on how, when, and what they should be eating at this age as food, exercise, and sleep play an important part on their growing bodies and mental development.
