Thursday, Sept. 9
Motorcoach to the airport for our overnight flight to Rome.
Friday, Sept. 10 Arrive Rome, Italy
On arrival in Rome we will be met and transferred to our hotel. This evening join your fellow travelers for a welcome dinner. (D)
Saturday, Sept. 11, Rome
This morning you may want to do an optional tour to the Vatican Museums and St. Peter’s Basilica. Later, enjoy a panoramic tour of Classical Rome including the Piazza Venezia, the Roman Forum, Circus Maximus, the colosseum and the Arch of Constantine.Contemporary Rome is highlighted through the legendary Trevi Fountain. Sunday, Sept. 12, Rome * Ravello * Vietri-sul-Mare
Depart Rome and journey south to the Amalfi Coast. You will visit the magnificent gardens of the Villa Rufolo in Ravello with its spectacular panorama. Your day ends in the beautiful town of Vietri-sul-Mare, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. (B,D)
Monday, Sept. 13, Vietri-sul-Mare * Sorrento *Vietri-sul-Mare
Begin your day exploring the seaside resort town of Sorrento. Here you’ll visit a local factory and watch a demo of the art of inlaid wood making. This afternoon, take some time to explore this charming town on your own. (B)
Tuesday, Sept. 14, Vietri-sul-Mare* Paestum*Vietri-sul-Mare
After breakfast, visit a nearby ceramic factory to learn about this regional craft, then tour a local buffalo milk mozzarella factory. Your day will continue with a visit to Paestum where you will be escorted through some of the best preserved Greek temples outside of Greece. (B, D)
Wednesday, Sept. 15, Vietri-sul-Mare*Capri*Vietri-sul-Mare
Today, (weather permitting) a boat trip to the island of Capri. A local guide provides an interesting tour of this paradise island. Later, enjoy free time to explore the town, shop its elegant shops or sip a coffee in the Piazza and watch the world go by. (B, D)
Thursday, Sept. 16, Vietri-sul-Mare*Pompeii*Vietri-sul-Mare
Experience the excavated ruins of Pompeii at the foothills of Mount Vesuvius. Soak in the history of the preserved original buildings of a Roman town 2,000 years ago. Return to Vietri-sul-Mare where you will enjoy free time to explore the town square, ceramic shops and cafes. (B)
Friday, Sept. 17, Vietri-sul-Mare*Naples*Rome
Bid farewell to the Amalfi Coast this morning and proceed to vibrant Naples. Enjoy a visit to the fascinating National Archeological Museum. Before departing for Rome, stop at a local winery to enjoy the famous Lacryma Christo wines and enjoy a typical Neapolitan lunch. This evening, farewell dinner. (B,L,D)
Saturday, Sept. 18 – Rome
We transfer to airport in Rome for our arrival back to the U.S where our motorcoach awaits us to return to Connecticut.
