Save a Slide as a JPEG

  1. Create one or more slides
  2. Save your PowerPoint before you do step 3
  3. Go to File à Save As and choose JPG as the file format
  4. Click “Save”
  5. Choose whether you want to save just the current slide as a JPEG or all the slides as separate JPEGS
  6. The slide are now individual JPEG files in your h:\ drive

How to add a hyperlink

1.  Highlight the text or image you want to link

2.  Right-click or go to Insert menu à Hyperlink

3.  Choose what type of hyperlink and complete “Text to Display” if it is not filled in

Choices:

§  Existing File or Web Page

§  Place in This Document – When you are making a non-linear ppt and want to jump to other slides

§  Create New Document – Use this if you want to open a new document, for example to take notes.

§  Email Address – Use this to open the email editor for that computer and have an email address already populated in the “To:” field


Embedding Video

  1. Go to the View Menu à Toolbars à Control Toolbox
  2. When the toolbox opens, click on the “More Controls” (bottom right-hand corner)
  3. Scroll down and clock on “Shockwave Flash Object”
  4. Use your cursor to draw a box on your slide
  5. Right-click on the box and select “Properties”
  6. Paste the movie link into “Movie”
  7. You will need to edit the link (e.g. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_WCEGWngzE)

a.  Remove watch?

b.  Replace the equal sign (=) with /

c.  It will now look like: http://www.youtube.com/v/g_WCEGWngzE

  1. Close the properties box
  2. Your video is ready to go, to test, press F5 to start your show!

Inserting Music or Video From a File

  1. You MUST have the file saved to the same location as your PowerPoint File (such as your h:\ drive or the k:\ drive)
  2. Use the Insert Menu to attach your media

  1. If you need to play music for only a certain time, use Custom Animation

2
