Executive Director Position Description and ANNOUNCEMENT OF VACANCY

Enlace Comunitario (EC), a social justice non-profit organization led by Latina immigrantsand based in Albuquerque, NMseeks applications for Executive Directorto replace Founding Director, Claudia Medina. EC’s mission is to eliminate domestic violence and promote healthy families in the Latino immigrant community in Central New Mexico. In addition to holistic and free domestic violence services in Spanish to over 1,000 individual victims each year, EC has an innovative domestic violence prevention program that includes developing leadership of former victims and engaging them in community education and systemic change efforts.

Reporting to the President of the Board ofDirectors and accountable to the Board of Directors, theExecutiveDirector isresponsiblefor all day-to-day operations, and maintaining and developing the long-term viability of EC. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong advocacy skills, and the ability to effectively convey genuine self-belief and passion for the mission of the organization. EC requires visionary, entrepreneurial leadership, and the ability to inspire and motivate key constituents to elevate their performance for the good of the organization’s beneficiaries.

Essential Job Functions:

Strategic Leadership

  • Assure that EC has a long-range strategy to achieve its mission, and makes consistent and timely progress in furtherance of its mission.
  • Maintain and develop EC’s organizational structure to effectively accomplish the organization’s operational goals and objectives, including staff and volunteer recruitment, training, supervision and evaluation.
  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness; implement changes required for improvement.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in the fields of domestic violence and immigrant rights.
  • Preserve a climate which attracts, keeps, and motivates board members, staff and volunteers, utilizing exceptional relationship-building skills.
  • Work with the Board and staff, on the development of policies in furtherance of the mission of the organization.
  • Display excellent planning and organizational skills for directing multiple simultaneous programs, events and activities in a blended strategic and tactical environment.
  • Inspire a strong sense of team spirit and motivate others to excel.
  • Hold a firm commitment to service excellence and a “client -centered” philosophy to ensure that survivors’ needs remain EC’s top priority.
  • Oversee/manage staff of more than 30 employees across three programmatic areas including attorneys, mental health professionals, educators and other support staff.
  • Work with external consultants on strategic leadership activities as needed to advance the mission and goals of the organization.
  • Work with the Board of directors and staff members on future strategic planning.
  • Timely inform the Board of directors of any issues that affect the financial or strategic health of the organization.

Community Relations

  • Represent EC as the face of the organization to alliance partners, media, government agencies, funding agencies, and/or the general public/community.
  • Maintain a schedule of public speaking engagements and other public appearances to promote the mission of EC and build relationships with key partner organizations.
  • Ensure that EC’s brand is clearly defined and remains relevant to existing and new audiences.
  • Lead EC’s print and electronic communications and social media planning efforts and ensure timely development and release of informative content to the EC community.

Donor and Foundation Cultivation

  • Plan and execute the organization’s annual and long-term fund development plans, including cultivation of strategic relationships with key community leaders, foundations, corporate giving representatives and individual donors to ensure that the organization remains visible and relevant and in an optimal position to receive grant monies as appropriate.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of all fundraising activities, including donor appeals, and signature and special fundraising events.
  • Oversee and ensure accuracy, quality and timeliness of all grants and closing reports.
  • Lead efforts to develop planned giving, capital campaigns and major gifts initiatives.
  • Provide leadership to staff and corps of volunteers supporting events to maximize the fundraising opportunity related to each and every event.

Fiscal Oversight

  • Oversee financial operations and work with the Financial Manager and Board of Directors treasurer to ensure accuracy and integrity of accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger accounting as well as preparation of a fiscal year budget, regular financial reports and oversight of the annual audit process. EC’s budget for this current fiscal year is $1,750,000.
  • Understand and analyze financial statements and use available technology to produce meaningful and insightful reports, prepare budgets and input and extract data as necessary.
  • Keep the Board of Directors well informed about the financial health and annual budgetary needs of the organization.

Education and Experience:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited University.
  • Seven (7) years of executive level experience in which three (3) years of management of a professional staff is required.Earned relevantgraduate degrees make take the place of executive level experience (masterone (1) year; doctoral two (2) years).
  • Experience in strategic planning and strategic leadership.
  • Demonstrated relationship-building and collaboration skills.
  • Effective public speaking and community engagement skills.
  • Experience with staff and volunteer management.
  • Proven successful fundraising/grant writing track record.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and passion for immigrant rights and domestic violence issues.
  • Knowledge of Latino culture and traditions.
  • Bilingual Spanish-English

Preferred:

  • Experience in the domestic violence field, Immigrant Rights and/or Social Justice work.
  • Prior executive director experience in a similarly situated non-profit organization or a role involving similar skills and experience in governmental or university units.
  • Masters or advanced degree.

Salary range: $55,000 to $85,000 depending on experience.

Other:

  • Evening hours and weekend availability may be required from time-to-time for attending board, community and networking events.
  • Must be able to travel to locations within or out of the state from time to time.
