We are seeking to appoint an inspirational Head of Chemistry to join our established and thriving Chemistry departmentat Easter or inSeptember 2018. Longsands Academy is a successful 11-18 comprehensive school rated as good by Ofsted in October 2014. St Neots is a market town with good facilities, within easy reach of Cambridge and with excellent transport links to London.

We have a very strong Science faculty and our Chemistry department’s 2016A-level summer results ranked number one (of seventeen) schools in Cambridgeshire (for progress) and was in the top 4% of schools nationally (for attainment). We have continued to sustain strong results in 2017, with 35.7% of students achieving grades A*-B and 78.6% of students achieving grades A*-C.

The successful applicant must be an experienced Chemistry specialist able to lead and develop the Chemistry department and deliver outstanding Chemistry lessons. They will be joining an energetic and committed Science team, which encourages and promotes teamwork, professional development and continuous improvement. Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Applied Science are extremely popular A-level choices year on year, and the influence of Science is high across the academy.

The successful applicant will be part of the Science Leadership Team and will have real influence across the faculty.
