CHAPTER 4.DATA AND INFORMATION SCOPE
Note.— Detailed requirements for aeronautical data and aeronautical information are contained in the Procedures for Air Navigation Services — Aeronautical Information Management Document (PANS-AIM, Doc XXXX).
4.1Temporal Requirements
4.1.1Aeronautical data and aeronautical information shall be collected and maintained to support the AIM services and products required for all phases of global air traffic operations including planning and reference, pre-flight, in-flight and post-flight.
4.1.1.1Metadata as specified in 3.4 shall be collected and maintained from the start of the life of aeronautical data and aeronautical information and throughout the life cycle changesuntil its permanent withdrawalin support of all phases of global air traffic operations.
4.2Data Scope
Note — The data scope specified herein provides for the minimum requirement to support digital data exchange and data services as well as support for information products and services provided in other formats(i.e. paper or electronic documents).
4.2.1The aeronautical data supporting AIM services and products as specified in Chapter 6 shall be collected and maintained for the following:
a)air traffic services airspace (ENR 2):
1)FIR, UIR, TMA and CTA (ENR 2.1); and
2)other regulated airspace(ENR 2.2).
b)ATS routes (lower, upper, area navigation, helicopter, and other routes) and en-route holding (ENR 3).
c)radio navigation aids/systems (ENR 4):
1)en-route (ENR 4.1);
2)special navigation systems (ENR 4.2); and
3)global navigation satellite system (GNSS) (ENR 4.3).
d)name-code designators for significant points (ENR 4.4).
e)aeronautical ground lights — en-route (ENR-4.5).
f)navigation warnings (ENR 5):
1)prohibited, restricted and danger areas(ENR 5.1);
2)military exercise and training areas and air defence identification zone (ADIZ) (ENR5.2);
3)other activities of a dangerous nature andother potential hazards (ENR5.3);
4)air navigation obstacles (ENR5.4);
5)aerial sporting and recreational activities (ENR 5.5); and
6)bird migration and areas with sensitive fauna (ENR 5.6).
g)en-route chart availability (ENR 6).

4.2.2Seaplane station data shall be collected and maintained similar to that for airport/heliport, and in addition, include:
a)landing area description
b)floating dock site characteristics;
c)ramp site characteristics; and
d)marking buoys.
4.2.3Obstacle and terrain data sets shall be collected as specified in Chapter 10.
4.2.4Aerodrome mapping data shall be collected as specified in Chapter 11.
4.2.5Data shall be collected and maintained as necessary to support digital aeronautical charting applications as well as the charts specified in Annex 4, Aeronautical Charting.
4.2.5.1Data shall be collected for the following charts:

4.2.6Rules, procedures and other information that support the requirements under 4.2.1 but not covered in the data scope shall be included in the information scope specified in 4.3.

Note 2.— The elements of the information scope maintained in data format provide for digital data exchange and data services as well as support for information products.
