Course Description
This course is a study of human relationships and social interaction. We will take a look at social growth through adolescence up to adulthood and the way it has changed over the years. We will study different relations within society, such as: racial and ethnic, gender and age, family, economic and political, religious, and educational.
Classroom Expectations
The most important rule in my classroom is that you not only treat the teacher with respect, but also your peers. I will not tolerate any offensive behavior.
Every student needs to have something to write with and a spiral notebookEVERYsingle class period.
Ask Questions! If you do not understand something do not be afraid to ask. The only stupid questions are the unasked questions.
Follow the “Classroom Rules” posted at the front of the room.
All students will be required to participate in class discussions and take notes. This class will consist of many group discussions; I will expect everyone to participate in these discussions and to respect each other’s differing opinions.

Participation
You will have a participation grade each six weeks. This grade is going to be made up of several different aspects each grading period. Group discussion will play a major role in your participation grade. I expect all students to contribute to our discussions.
Academic Dishonesty
Cheating and plagiarism are serious offenses and may result in a failing grade on assignments, exams, or projects. Asking questions and working with peers is encouraged, however, the student must develop his or her own solutions to the assigned tasks.
Make-Up Work
Students are responsible for coming to me for any missed work. If you know that you will be absent in advance, let me know! (This includes absences due to school activities). You will have the number of days you were absent to complete make-up work. If you know you will be absent on a test day it is your responsibility to make arrangements with me to take the test.
Late Work
For each day an assignment is considered late, an automatic 15 points will be deducted from your grade. For example, if your work is due on a blue day and you turn it in the next blue day, 15 points will be deducted.
