TITLE: Online Community Building Assistant and Office Administration

RESPONSIBLE TO: NOISE Operations Manager

NOISE, the award-winning, national arts charity is on the look-out for an enthusiastic “Online Community Building Assistant and Office Administration Assistant” to join the NOISE Team and play a vital and supporting role to the work of the NOISE Operations Manager.

Joining the team at a very exciting time, this important role will include helping to maintain and update the brand-new NOISEfestival.com online ePortfolio website and community of over 10,000 members, assist to drive our social media activity campaign to encourage new NOISE members from across the globe and generate thousands of creative submissions to the “NOISE Festival 2014”.

We are looking for a motivated, pro-active go-getter, who is passionate about digital / social media, the arts and the creative industries, with good IT / writing skills; including encouraging young people to get involved with NOISE and our innovative career-boosting services, the lead-up to the “NOISE Festival 2014” and helping NOISEfestival.com, to continue to be one the leading destinations for emerging creatives in the UK, through engaging and relevant online content.
You will need to be a top team player with excellent communication and people skills, good-humoured and be prepared to organise and manage a your workload, with support from the NOISE Team.

About NOISE Festival 2014 In October 2013, the award-winning, national arts charity NOISE, launches the “Open Call for Submissions” campaign to encourage UK emerging creative talent to upload their art work as part of the NOISE Festival 2014. Over summer 2014 a panel of creative industry professionals choose their favourite artworks. A celebration of the best work selected follows in autumn 2014, with the “NOISE Festival 2014 Showcase”, made up of exclusive events and media coverage, nationally.

This paid internship has been created as part of the Creative Employment Programme. The Creative Employment Programme is an Arts Council England fund to support the creation of traineeships, formal apprenticeship and paid internship opportunities in England for unemployed young people wishing to pursue a career in the arts and cultural sector. There are certain criteria you must meet in order to be eligible to apply for a Creative Employment Programme funded internship. At the time of applying you must be aged 18 to 24 years old and you must be registered as unemployed with Jobcentre Plus.

HOURS : Minimum 30 hours per week. Between 10am – 6pm, Mon-Fri.

SALARY : National Minimum Wage

DURATION: Six Months

MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Community

·  To support the Operations Manager with the day-to-day running of NOISEfestival.com website including:

-  Drafting and uploading written content / images to NOISEfestival.com.

-  Moderating NOISEfestival.com groups and forums.

-  Suggesting ideas for new content and maintaining the NOISE blog.

·  Sourcing new NOISEfestival.com members and uptake to the NOISE Festival 2014 Call for Submissions, online.

·  Act as the main point of contact for NOISEfestival.com website members including solving user problems via email.

·  Assisting the Operations Manager with keeping NOISE profiles on social media sites updated and active, answering queries

·  Support the Operations manager with the organisation of NOISE projects, including researching new volunteers

·  With the Operations Manager, preparing advance event information; staff travel/ accommodation arrangements, artist and venue liaison in addition to office supplies and general administration

·  Any other duties deemed appropriate by with the NOISE Operations Manager.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential:

·  IT skills and open to learning new technologies.

·  Passion for digital media, arts/ cultural and creative industries.

·  Ability to think of the best ways to engage / build our NOISE member community.

·  Be prepared to help out in all areas of the charity. We’re a tiny team!

·  Drive, passion and ambition

·  Organisational / research skills.

·  Communications skills, in person and written

·  Reliable and excellent team player.

·  Attention to detail and hands-on approach.

·  Promotion/ marketing via online social networks (twitter, facebook) or an active member of an online community

·  Standard MS Office software package

·  Knowledge of what twitter, facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube does

·  Knowledge of what the NOISE website does (ideally at application stage)

Desirable:

·  One or more, recognised qualification(s), from GCSE (or equivalent) level in: Marketing, PR, English or IT, Digital Technologies, Administration, or similar.

·  Working knowledge and/or willingness to learn how to build online communities and build membership.

·  Confidence to put forward your own ideas when appropriate.

·  Marketing or PR work experience, projects, personal tasks etc

·  Copywriting experience (personal or published online/physically)

·  Basic Photoshop/Illustrator knowledge

·  Programming (HTML) or design skills are very desirable but not essential
