Selection of Accountability Measures for Alternative Education Campuses (AECs)

Due September 1, 2010

All of Colorado’s Alternative Education Campuses (AECs) are accountable for four performance indicators: Academic Achievement, Academic Growth, Postsecondary and Workforce Readiness and Student Engagement. Performance on these indicators will serve as the basis for an AEC’s school plan type assignment by districts and the Colorado Department of Education (CDE).

In the table below, please type in the measures for each of the four performance indicator areas for which your Alternative Education Campus will be accountable. For measures recommended by the Colorado Coalition of AECs, please refer to the Appendix of the Policy Guidance on Accountability for Alternative Education Campuses.

By October 15, 2010, you will need to report performance results to CDE, based on the measures you have selected and your school’s 2009-10 results, using the reporting template provided by CDE. You will then need to report your results from the 2010-11 school year, using the same selected measures and reporting template, by October 15, 2011. If the district and AEC wish to change their selected measures in subsequent years, they must notify CDE by re-submitting their selections by July 1 at the start of the school year to which the measures will be applied.

Note:

  • For each measure, be sure to indicate the cut-points for the measure that express ambitious but attainable targets for the population of students you serve. In doing so, you must assign cut-points that represent whether the school exceeds, meets, approaches, or does not meet the goal.
  • For each measure, you must submit evidence of agreement by your district or authorizer as to the selected measures of evaluating school performance. The signature of your district’s superintendent and district board president or authorizer on this form is sufficient.
