Required Extensive Reading / Reading Lab Assignments for All ESL Reading Students
1. To meet the extensive reading requirement of your ESL reading course, you must complete five extensive reading books, to be selected from the library’s ESL extensive reading collection.
2. The deadlines for finishing each book are as follows:
- Book 1: Must be finished by the end of Week 5
- Book 2: Must be finished by the end of Week 7
- Book 3: Must be finished by the end of Week 9
- Book 4: Must be completed by the end of Week 11
- Book 5: must be completed by the end of Week 13
3. Complete the attached discussion log form BEFORE seeing the tutors.
- Fill out the “meeting one” form for your first meeting with the tutor.
- You may use and attach additional sheets of paper to the discussion log form if needed.
- On the second discussion log, write only additional information that resulted from your first meeting with the tutor. You do NOT need to rewrite all of the information from the first discussion log.
4. For each book, you must meet with an ESL tutor at two different times to talk about the book’s content. At each meeting, you and the tutor will fill in the appropriate part of an “Extensive Reading Discussion Log Form.”
5. Submit completed discussion log forms to your instructor by the deadline given by your instructor.

To be completed by the student and signed and dated by an ESL tutor for each extensive reading book. For each book, students must log two separate discussions. This form is organized to show that the student has met to talk about the book at two separate meetings.
