Parent Letter
1. You may view grades on www.engrade.com at all times. Please write your email here and I will send you an invitation to the gradebook.

2. All work is assigned as classwork. Very rarely is homework given due to lack of books. However, if the student does not complete classwork it is their responsibility to complete it at home. Books may be borrowed after 3rd period and brought back by 8 AM the next day. Also, the internet is a valuable resource.
3. All outlines, powerpoints, vocabulary lists, notes and most worksheets are posted on my website. http://www.robeson.k12.nc.us//Domain/1154 or go the Lumberton High School website and go to teacher websites and find my name.
4. If a student is absent it is their responsibility to find out what they missed and get it completed. When notebooks are checked they are responsible for all missed work. If they were absent Wednesday and I do notebook checks on Friday it should be there. I announce all notebook checks in advance.
5. Notebook checks: If classwork is completed they receive a 100 for each assignment….If there are blanks they receive a 0 because it is done in class and we go over the answers for most assignments. Classwork cannot be made up or regraded if the student was in class and had the opportunity to do the work. See #4. All unit pages should be tabbed as instructed and work should be in the appropriate section. An overall notebook grade is given at the end of each 9 weeks. This is counted as a test grade.
6. Please look at your student’s notebook and you can see exactly what we do in our classes. All tests and quizzes should be in there also.
7. TESTS: Tests should be made up within 5 school days after it is missed. Parents will be notified when students miss tests. Tests may be retaken to improve scores. The 2 tests will be averaged together for a final grade. Students have 5 days after grade notification to retake a test. Please encourage students to study prior to retake so as not to waste time or possible decrease their score. Students are given a detailed content outline, notes, and a study guide to prepare for tests. They are also told which diagrams to study if they will be on the test.
8. QUIZZES: Announced quizzes will not be available to be re-taken because they are announced and it is meant to encourage them to study their material which is given to them via printed outline and note taking.
9. PLEASE encourage your children to behave and follow instructions. We are having trouble learning procedures in a couple of my classes. It has been 9 weeks. It is very important in large classes that students cooperate to make the class flow better.
