Meeting Minutes

A meeting of the College of Education Council for Teacher Education was held Wednesday,
March 7, 2012, at 3:30 P.M. in 316 Hughes Hall.
Members present: Dr. Chuck Blatchley, Dr. Sunghee Choi, Dr. Hazel Coltharp, Dr. Jean Dockers, Dr. Gloria Flynn, Dr. Eric Rojas, Dr. Brenda Roberts, Dr. Dixie Smith, and Dr. Howard Smith.
Members absent: Dr. Becky Brannock, Mr. Gil Cooper, Ms. Cris Elliott, Dr. Rob Hefley, Dr. Andy Klenke, Dr. Matthew Montague, Dr. Lyle Morgan, Dr. Julie Samuels, Dr. Kelly Woestman, and Dr. Irene Zegar.

Dr. Smith called the meeting to order at 3:33 P.M.
I. Health, Human Performance, and Recreation
A. HHPR 704: Physical Education Workshop - course name change to Workshop
in Health, Human Performance, and Recreation
Dr. Howard Smith explained the reason for the course name change. Motion was made by Dr. Brenda Roberts, seconded by Dr. Hazel Coltharp, to approve the proposed legislation. Dr. Becky Brannock, Ms. Cris Elliott, Dr. Lyle Morgan, Dr. Julie Samuels, and Dr. Kelly Woestman submitted their vote of approval by email before the meeting. Motion passed with unanimous approval.
II. Psychology and Counseling
A. PSYCH 803: Intellectual Assessment – course description being changed to
further clarify who will have access to restricted psychological assessment training.
Dr. Howard Smith explained the reason for the course description being changed. Dr. Hazel Coltharp made the motion, seconded by Dr. Jean Dockers, to approve the proposed change. Dr. Becky Brannock, Ms. Cris Elliott, Dr. Lyle Morgan, Dr. Julie Samuels, and Dr. Kelly Woestman submitted their vote of approval by email before the meeting. Motion passed with unanimous approval.
III. Teaching and Leadership
A. SPED 748: Autism Spectrum Disorder Workshops – change credit hours from
1 credit hour to .5-3 credit hours
Dr. Alice Sagehorn explained the reason for the change in the number of credit hours for the
above course. Dr. Hazel Coltharp made the motion, seconded by Dr. Brenda Roberts, to approve
the proposed change. Dr. Becky Brannock, Ms. Cris Elliott, Dr. Lyle Morgan, Dr. Julie Samuels,
and Dr. Kelly Woestman submitted their vote of approval by email before the meeting. Motion
passed with unanimous approval.
